I'll be tuning in for the national anthem this morning. Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau (Old Land of our Fathers) is a stirring tune, probably up there with the Russian anthem as the best in the world. So much better than the dirge that is England's song. And to be fair to rugby supporters, they can sing much better than football fans.
After that I'll switch off and go fishing.

The Welsh tune is great.
I noticed the NZ one was a dirge. No wonder they feel the need for a shouty dance as well.

A Wales v England RWC final would be something special wouldn't it ?
Cheering Wales on here ... but they'll have to be outstanding in defence and creative in attack to turn this S. Africa team over.

Unimpressive show from both SA and Wales so far.
You have to think England could easily beat either of these teams based on this game.

Thunderboat is a strange place - maybe time to start to live with it and accept Rugby threads are not universally liked. I don't feel the necessity to visit every thread if the subject matter is of no interest to me. I foolishly thought that ensuring the thread title made clear it was ABOUT RUGBY would assist folks. To then visit to declare your dislike seems obtuse to me ... or am I being 'holier than thou' again Rog There is the main rugby thread which I believe is left alone, hopefully out of respect but if I were to start a thread about cycling I shouldn't really complain about posts against cyclists. However, come on England. They have my full attention.

Thought I'd give rugby another chance so watched the first half of the 'game'. Big mistake. I'd forgotten how little time the ball actually spends in play. There seemed to be more time setting up scrums and the referee sorting out the ensuing mess than actual playing time. Last time I watched, many moons ago, I was unimpressed with the amount of kicking going on. Today it had increased at least 2 fold.
What a load of rubbish. You pay good money to watch that, really?

So after one of the dullest games of the tournament, we know it's South Africa in the final. By a strange twist of fate, England will have played all the southern hemesphere Rugby Championship teams in four weeks, in the order in which they finished ... Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, and the winners this year, South Africa. Should we win on Saturday as I hoped, that will be a considerable achievement in itself, quite apart from the William Webb Ellis. Hope the England team can go out to win, like they did against NZ, rather than trying not to lose and getting bogged down in a kicking fest 'arm wrestle' of a game. To be honest I'm already looking forward to the 6N ... what a competition that's going to be Rog
