It didn't get advertised as far as I know kris. Just sold really quickly, word of mouth. I was talking to the guy hoping to buy it, he was waiting for Vulcan to arrive in Goole before going for a sort of test run on her down to Hull.

There is no headroom in it. Plus that stem post looks like a bit of a nuisance for lock gates. Almost like it is designed specifically to hoick them out of their pots on the way up. Plus lee boards is a ballache. It seems to be a Tjalk but bargemast would know more. K&A?

I have no idea about this one but I saw it today while walking the canal, looks old It's hull lines are very pleasing to my eyes, but I know that many people (with no taste ) don't like their lines. That boat is about hundred years old and is a small Tjalk probably built in the North of the Netherlands in Friesland. As a houseboat you lose a lot of useful space because of the very low headroom under the front deck, and leeboards are useless and need maintenance if you want them to last. But they can be usefull for temporary mooring in the middle of a canal while waiting for a lock when it's windy, as you can lower them to touch the canal bottom. Peter.

I understand the impracticalities of living aboard them, but everything in life cant all be about practicallity. Otherwise no one would live aboard a boat.
