The internet is still messed up, beginning to think it might be my phone. Are you on an iPhone? If so the latest iOS 13 seems to be a bit buggy. I’m waiting to get Wi-fi so I can update with the latest bug-fixed version. Its an old iphone5 and i run an old os which i cant remember which one. But the off switch doesnt work any more. Where i am moored is crap for reception as well, so i dont know which is to blame really. Ill be able to tell when the rivers not in flood and i move my boat.

Having been in the mobile phone transmission site business for 20 years and having similar problems with 3...
Problem here is for blocks of time that are NOT peak time, they clearly switch off the site nearest to me. It can't be maintenance, it happens too often - this morning for instance. I can pick up a weak signal from elsewhere if I stand in the right place. Makes me wonder if they want to cut costs by thinning out some sites, switch off and wait for the complaints...or not.
When they were rolling out each new "G" they went hell for leather and some sites ended up in silly places, often needing 2 or 3 even to cover an area where one would have done if only they could have done a deal in the right place.

This is exactly the issue, sometimes its brilliant but then as you say for blocks of time it may as well be off. Its been happening for the last few months really. I did wonder if its to do with 5g being rolled out, as im still on the old 3g.

Torch batteries were totally flat - torch had somehow been left on. Curses. So... put new batteries in? We brought 30 AA/LR6 batteries over with us from Finland - Varta, made in Germany, 6 Euros the lot. We also brought over 2 rolls of plastic bin liners. Proper Planning Prevents Piss-Poor Performance. Engine oil changed just now (4th time this trip), also gearbox oil. New engine oil (2 bottles / 10 litres) bought today, also 2 sacks of coal, 2 nets of logs, and a bag of kindling. As well as topping up the fuel tank. When Christmas comes, we're ready! Packing up for the long trek home...

A recently binned a kipor Genny a previous neighbour had left on the mooring. It was the compact one. Been outside for a while and I failed to find the ability to be arsed to mess with it so I left it for the pikeys by the bins.
They did take it. Who knows it may now be proudly powering a whole caravan somewhere.
But I doubt it.

Thats all i can say, the pull cord on my kipor snapped today. Which would be alright but you have to take the whole thing to bits to put it back on again. Im going to do it tmw. Which meant i had to run my inboard diesel. Which i dont do very often, only when welding really. I noticed thats got a diesel leak and the oil is leaking from round the dipstick. What is it with mechanical things always wanting attention? Ah but, you can belt an engine with hammer and you won’t get in to trouble - try doing that to a partner! My son broke my hammer..well when I say mine I mean it was dads so I guess it'd seen better days... I cant be here without a hammer to bash stuff that needs fixing.. So to-day I brought me another ..its not the same as dads old one..this ones new...but needs must...

I found a really nice estwing hammer by a drain next to a pavement in hackney a while ago. Nobody about so I put it in my car. Nice item. I guess a builder left it behind but as it was on the road surface I felt it was reasonable to take it.
Recently I stumbled across a nice forged 4lb lump hammer someone had had out with their magnet and discarded on the towpath. Nice hammer.
Overall I have about 13 hammers. Most of them the 4lb type which I retrieved with the magnet.
Quite like hammers.

I found my favourite mole grips clamped onto the underside of a car I bought. Made in the USA, they used to make excellent tools there.

Hammers r an essential part of any tool box... the lump hammer I gave away and the sledgehammer is up the store I had 2 of dads..one I think son in law confiscated during Horror House renovations which just left me with the one which son broke...grand son has appropriated the top bit and he can just about use it. I was showing him how to hammer nails in wood...may as well start another generation off...

Loads of imitations some of which are reasonably useful like the Irwin vicegrip but you can't beat the original. Another nice one is the old FOOTPRINT wrenches. They are pretty cool.

Yes, they do say that if you can't fix it with a hammer then it's an electrical problem.

Yes real Mole Vice (Vise?) grips. They seem to be indestructable, I've clamped them up having to use a vice to squeeze them hard enough and they don't even bend, they just click over and eat into what ever you're clamping. I've had them for over 30 years including 8 full time bodyshop.
