(You, Telematch KNOW what an ignorance fascist I am !) What about lead carbon, then? met x I could say something about letting it go, but I’ll resist. Lead carbon? Not sure but there seems to be conflicting opinions, and it is far from a new technology. I think it has some advantages over lead acid but it is not a radical change like lithium batteries would be. And therefore without the radical advantages. Whether LC is overall better than a good type of LA such as AGM, I guess would depend on the relative prices.

There’s a series of very interesting threads about lithium batteries. But maybe not your thing? I'm not interested in having anything to do with that site Me neither. A forum where you can be sanctioned for failing to agree with the "owner's" opinion isn't something I would be interested in posting to.

I'd heard that there had been a general amnesty, I thought ...... well several things actually. not interested There’s a series of very interesting threads about lithium batteries. But maybe not your thing? John like me has LifePo4s so we are both interested in them, however like me John is in the they look after themselves camp, and does no checking or managing!!

I'm not interested in having anything to do with that site Quite agree, JohnV - only annoying as I was considering lithium battieries. What do you think about lead carbon as an interim solution? met x met there are some valence LifePo4s on sale on ebay they are the same as Johns and mine they are 300 squids each but new they were 2.5k each, mine have been trouble free and I could never go back to old LAs far to much hassle for me

Yes I know, I meant “interested in the CWDF threads on Li” rather than “interested in Li”.

Nearly did a "Foxy quote" there, mon petit cher….. T'would truly be interesting, indeed! Meanwhile, back to batteries … met x I was talking about batteries. Salty water ones JohnV will know what I am on about. Great idea Andrew and fascinating technology ...... but they are just so damned big !!! I went to LiFePO4's as I was going to have to replace my domestics fairly soon anyway (then 6 years old and fading) the replacement cost was anticipated to be about 650/700 squids for Varta Pb's (4 x 140Ah) the four second hand LiFePO4's were just on 1K so only about 30% more. Lower capacity but a higher usable capacity than the Pb's, smaller and lighter and charge faster (greedy little buggers, they suck up anything you throw at them) ...... I reckon that I will probably not have to replace my domestics before I shuffle off the perch. (hopefully a long long time ) As Peterboat says, I'm in the "let them sort themselves out camp" I have an inverter connected all the time that runs the fridge/freezer and it has a low voltage alarm if the voltage drops and it sounds off above the problem level of the LiFePO4's so any low voltage warning is taken care of. They only charge from the solar panels where the charging regime is tailored to them (mains chargers are available that are set to gel which is close enough for something that is only occasionally used and where you would be keeping an eye on them anyway) They have been in use for over a year and the difference between the 12 volt batteries in the series pair has never exceeded 0.3 volts. As I never charge above about 85% this is insignificant (originally was checking weekly, then monthly, now occasionally) Would I have gone to LiFePO4's if I couldn't get them at that price ? Probably not, I would have just put in whatever was on offer from Tanya or Battery Megastore and been looking at forking out again in another 4 or 5 years. Am I happy with them ...... you bet !!! Will I change all the other banks ? ...... don't think so, unless prices drop significantly, the domestics are the ones that take the biggest hammering, all the others have an easy life and anyway my pockets are not deep enough (2 x 120 Ah automotive main engine start, 2 x 120 Ah automotive anchor winch , 1 x 60 Ah automotive main generator, 1 x 45 Ah (?) automotive wing generator) edit to add ... did design (and partly build) a monitoring/alarm system with auto load dumping/charge removal but as things remained so stable without anything ..... it got pushed to the back of the workbench and has remained there ever since

Sadly, as John suggests, it might be a "pocket problem" at the moment! met x

Maybe you could register a new account.
I think the ban goes further than just username and email address. Not sure how it works as it's not my field of expert ease but I think if the 'bans were lifted" this might indicate that you would not be prevented from attempting to get back into the site. Just maybe not with your original user name.
I have no idea.

I figured I'd test to see if my ban has been lifted over on cwdf, it hadnt and so I applied via the link on the Banned page which reads "Should you wish to appeal against the ban, please click here to contact an administrator." I received a reply today from RichM, as so "Thanks for getting in touch. We don't deal with Moderation enquiries I'm afraid." Evasive reply basically saying eff off I reckon. Blimey, if that was your reception, It's probably just as well that I have no interest in returning
