It is a substance commonly abused, this is why everyone had 'just sold the last bottle'. I actually found it amusing my doctor recommended I buy some - he was convinced I was an abuser of many different things. I recently had to endure much abuse from my new doctor who clearly had read his notes of thirty years previously. Doctors can really fuck you up. This is why they are best avoided. By the way, pleurisy is the result of the pleural membrane, a separation of the lungs from the ribs, becoming punctured, which allows the lungs to rub against the ribs with painful results. Apparently the next step is pneumonia. Or summat. Totally agree about the doctors. One of them who had received my woman on a non-urgent appointment asked her "so are you pregnant again" despite her only being pregnant twice before and not being pregnant on that occasion. He was basing his comment on most of the furrin looking women breeding like rabbits in the area. Later the same doctor explained to me that despite the fact I have a moderate drinking problem "just drink wine if you want to". I never drink wine. Presumably he had profiled white people in the area and assumed they are all pissheads who drink wine rather than beer. He was the one who told me to go to hospital about the Pneumonia and got the penicillin prescribed which to be fair did sort it out. Another doctor accused me of being anorexic. I pointed to the bit on her computer screen where it said Aspergers syndrome diagnosed 1999 and she blanked me completely. Just because I was a bit thin. Not talking skeletons. Re the drinking, is it ridiculous to suggest you just decide not to drink for a while? I quit smoking a while back, and after the initial shock (lasted about a week) the rest was all in the mind. Although I still smoke the occasional fag (and enjoy it).

I agree too, I've had some bad experiences. The NHS seems to be crap or brilliant, I've never had a so-so experience. But there are good 'uns, I have a great GP at the moment who listens and then thinks about what you said - a rare thing. The others in the practice listen but their thoughts are on how they can get you on a blood thinning drug for life, tick a box and earn a (must be big) bonus for the practice. One GP over estimated my 10.5st weight as 14.5st and my blood pressure as "well dodgy" to do this despite having the gear to weight and test me. I found the prog they use on the internet and did it myself, confronted her and she squeaked at me in a really weird way like an 8 year old girl trying to do the squeakiest high pitched cartoon voice she could but I think she was speaking. She did it twice then reverted to normal as if nothing had happened. The good one thought a bit and worked out I had hay fever.

Problem is I prefer it to the pharmaceutical equivalent product for chronic anxiety. It doesn't really help overall but it cuts down the worrying a little bit at least temporarily. No way would I want to get onto scrips or whatever they are called. That would be a very bad idea. Anyway thats a bit personal. Nice to hear you managed to stop smoking that's definitely a Good Idea.

I was well outside the danger zone before she fixed it to make me look like I could drop down dead any minute. If I hadn't asked for a copy of the blood test and done some homework finding and using the program she'd used I wouldn't have known (she was even using a version that had been superseded twice though that didn't effect the result). She also told me to take vit E forever because that was a bit low - it was March, the lowest ebb for sunlight. The worst of all of it was the off hand way she got the receptionist to phone and say, and I quote "where do you want to collect your prescription". There had been no follow up app after the blood test, that was the first I'd heard of it. That and the squeaking... The only advice on the actual blood test was "discuss lifestyle changes".

I think a lot of doctors just make assumptions. With my current GP it was hate at first sight. I'd change if I could but this was the only practice I could get a look-in at. The result is I'll only go back if I genuinely think I'm dying.

Though not been since corona

I would have locked them up in a sealed refrigeration lorry for a few days with it turned on! to let them know what it feels like
