I've been pondering the question I raised a while back. Just what is the remit of the council of members? The Council The Council is made up of up to 50 members and includes a mix of elected and independently nominated individuals together with the six Regional Advisory Board Chairs, who are ex officio members. Council Meeting in Birmingham, September 2018Council Meeting in Birmingham, September 2018 Council members are the legal company Members of the Canal & River Trust. They have responsibilities granted them by the Articles and by the Board of Trustees from time to time. Council members reflect the wide appeal of the waterways - from boating and angling through to walking and conservation. The Council is responsible for the appointment of trustees. It debates important points of principle to provide guidance and perspective from different stakeholders, suggesting issues of concern for the Trustees to pursue, and acts as a sounding board for the Trustees in relation to the development of proposals and policies It seems it can appoint the board, who are responsible for CRT operating within its legal remit, but I don't see how kris can have a direct effect on what we see as dodgy operations and actions, though if you can stir up enough of the members, maybe it's possible.

Jim i said right from the beginning i think the council is a tick box exercise and has no real power. But at least if boaters voices are getting heard on it, then crt might realise that they are going to have to pay more attention to our needs. Besides i couldnt resist the oputunity of winding foxy up by claiming exspnses.

Of course you will have to fly from East Midlands or Leeds and will need to stay at some posh hotel overnight. Its only fair.

Might be able to use my Benetti if it's come out of refit in time.
It's only a 49 metre boat but you can just about squeeze a few guests in there.
Will have a look at the charter diary.

Just what is the remit of the council of members? Probably nothing. The management decide on their own salaries and bonuses and what bits of the canal system to flog off, and by how much to squeeze boaters with hiking up the licence fees and parking charges. There is no-one to stop them. Have you seen the state of the Government recently?

Would have been good to see a few more youngsters. Some of the applicants I know, and most spend more time wanking their egos than anything else. Fuckin useless. Good to see kris and helen in, but that's as far as I'll vote.
