The use of the term "our generation" raises an interesting question.
What sort of age demographic is it that respond by voting in this sort of thing? And do candidates have to divulge their age ?
I've always been intrigued as to whether there are enough keen youngsters getting on the scene.
I mean the boating scene not the cheap accomodation scene.
On the one occasion I went to a CRT "forum" I had the deciding vote on whether to discuss the future of the waterways or veg management. When I went for the former I had glares from the old codgers who obviously had no interest in the future as they played no part in it and just wanted to discuss number of grass cuts per year. I personally prefer less grass cuts. I like a wild edge, you just have to take extra care when getting on and off.

I like the way Nemesis set out the statement..Bullet points with gaps between sentences seems to make stuff so much clearer and easier to read.

So ive looked into submitting my application, it seems strightforward enough. If the people who said they would sponser me still want to, all i need is a full name and an email. So if you would like to pm them to me, ill fill the form in at some stage before the deadline. Work seems to be getting in the way of having a life at the moment.

Okay thank you for the people who have offered to sponser me, i now have enough sponsers and thanks to the people who have helped me to hone my manifesto. Im resonably happy with the latest draft and feel its the one im going to go with, unless anybody can spot any glaring mistakes, im sure somebody will be able to find grammmatical errors.
Hello my name is Kris Nadin, i liveaboard an eighty six year old ex working boat that im patiently restoring. Ive lived on and worked on the water in various ways over the years, including being a tug skipper on maintenance contracts, a commercial fisherman and crewing on yatchs. Ive also worked for crt before now. These different roles have given me an excellent perspective of the commmercial and recreational demands placed on the waterways by a broad spectrum of users. In my opinion boaters interests are not being adequetly represented at the moment. The issues that cocern me the most are the ongoing removal of the facilities, the continued lack of routine maintenance of essential infrastructure and the progressive sale of public assets to the private sector. I am particularly concerned that the needs of elderly, disadvantaged and vulnerable boaters are not dealt with adequetly or fairly. I would like to see the continuation of the waterways as a navigable network open to all and would work to make sure that our generatiion is not the one that witnesses the demise of a publicly owned and valuble asset.
Regards kris

Regards kris [/quote] ---- Just put in a few spelling corrections for you kris. And one or two added words and extended CRT to the full name. It looks good the way you wrote it so no need to take any notice of my corrections ETA I also just changed ....vulnerable boaters..."adequately or fairly" to ..."appropriately". I think talking about fairness might be a bit off putting for some people. Again I don't know if that is worth taking any notice of !
