here's Autumn Lock. It's Lock 12 on the Rochdale, the one naughtyfox couldn't get past in Dec 2015. Never heard it called by that name! Rawden Mill - Lock No 12. Almost 4 years ago, Boxing Day flood(s), tied up just below overnight, next day into lock and up but couldn't get out - canal silted up side to side. So turned around and went back to Sowerby Bridge.

Have you told the 3 boats in your summer picture to move on or display a permanent mooring license?

Akshully its the Calder Boat Club Moorings, at Callis Mill. Taken over by hippies when the canal first opened again, CRT now let them manage the Moorings. Callis Mill was the workshop for Rochdale Canal Company and then BW.

No... but above (on that next pound) has been a shitty boat with shit strewn all over the towpath (no licence displayed on that one) from at least June 2015 to Oct 2017. Jim knows of that boat. Another permanent piss-taker.* *when I say 'piss-taker' of course I mean 'another downtrodden boater wholly deserving of attention'.

AFAIK, having talked to other boaters round there, he had serious mental health issues, he burnt his boat out, just below lock 17, still there. Don't know where he's gone. He burnt out another boat a few years back, its remains are still there, where it was moored on the offside at the Callis Moorings.

'Care in the Community' and all that. I suppose it adds some colour. Mostly black when they have burned out their boats, or have painted them all over in bitumen, including the mushroom vents.

It wouldn't be the same without us, however, while some of us are mildy stricken, perhaps with foolishness or adhd/ocd 😉, a minority suffer the horrors of severe mental illness. Life's better by water, it may help some.

There are a few, I've seen them, but not here. 😂😂😂😂

Already not paying for your licence, being rude to other (licence-paying) boaters, and scattering rubbish over the towpath is detrimental to others.

Already not paying for your licence, being rude to other (licence-paying) boaters, and scattering rubbish over the towpath is detrimental to others. Only some others and high blood pressure will finish them off. They shouldn't be so nosey. It's probably cheaper for society as a whole to let them stay on an unlicensed boat with a couple of square metres of rubbish on the towpath, harming no one but IWA members. Still, instead of being concerned, let's get apoplectic.

Nice to see foxy expressing concern amd sympathy, for people in our community who are less fortunate than himself.

Yes, I am fortunate, yet I also work hard so I can pay for things such as our CRT licence, boat insurance, and BSS examinations, not to mention our hull surveys, and IWA membership. Some people just sit on their arses and expect handouts. Being 'less fortunate' doesn't give you the right to strew rubbish all over the towpath adjacent to your boat. There are some dirty, untidy people about, and it's bugger all to do with a lack of money.
