An excellent analysis. Nail hit on head 30-40 times in just over four minutes. Unfortunately Labour has been completely taken over by the metropolitan London middle-class now and as such is unelectable. You have to wonder if the people running the Labour show now are actually Tory infiltrators sent in on some type of cloak and dagger sabotage mission. Not so, they can become the London Labour Independence Party and lead the ‘inside M25’ workers to the socialists paradise. Just so long as I am left behind I don’t care what they do.

Just stumbled across this ... interesting to 'see yourself as other's see you'. Rog Thing is, Rog, there's no such thing as impartial commentary on political matters. This woman is making her speech to support her own political agenda in Australia. She doesn't give a damn about the social and political future of Britain, and her conclusion on the reasons for the election result are just spin. Heed not flatterers.

Can anyone tell which one is the liar? "Labour implodes over election defeat" "Emily Pigberry acccused Caroline Flint of 'making up sh**' about her today as she furiously denied branding northern Brexit voters 'stupid'." "Mrs Thornberry said in a clip broadcast on Sky News and the BBC today: 'I've contacted her and I've said to her, please withdraw, I'll give you until the end of the day. And she hasn't. So I've had to go to solicitors." We await with baited breath, Emily, you denier of Democracy - you have done everything you can to prevent Brexit. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7796751/Caroline-Flint-stands-claim-Emily-Thornberry-branded-northern-Brexit-voters-stupid.html

You think I couldn't work that out for myself ? I posted it merely out of interest, as an example of what is being said, in this case in Australia. I am still struggling coming to terms with how much people in the north must dislike and distrust Corbyn and Labour, to hand such a victory to the Tories ... generations of Labour voters turning their backs ... voting for a party they still loathe and blame for their communities demise. Rog This is exactly what Cameron was hoping for when he announced the "referendum". Go for basic instincts. The country is under the cosh of immigration. Not only was he bluffing (by pretending to be in favour of remaining in the EU when he is a clear brexiter) to get "I will vote against the awful toff because I dislike him / I will not do what the headmaster asks me to do" votes but he also had an eye on his own re-election followed by a voluntary resignation and also followed by another large Tory majority. He will have had some slight panic moments when the plebiscite vote was so close but in the end it all went to plan. He always wanted Brexit. He is a Tory who loves the Tories and wants them to rule for ever more. It's really clever shit. How to fuck your opponent properly. There should be a medal for it. They know what they are doing !! The sooner people realise that the better.

Rog Ignoring all the conspiracy theorists, I think this was just a kick in the ass for Corbyn. Voters from all sides disliked Corbyn and his politics. Add to that the indecisive manner of labour on brexit and it was the perfect combination for a protest vote. I really believe it's that simple.

I disagree. I believe Cameron wanted us to stay in the eu but was motivated to call the referendum by the sight of Nigel Farage growing ever larger in the rear view mirror. I'm sure he was 100% confident that the vote would be for Remain, as they all were.

How convenient it was that "our Nige" suddenly decided not to run at the crucial election.
Weird coincidence that one. Almost like part of a plan.
Surely not.
Cameron is categorically pro brexit and pro Tory. He got exactly what he wanted.

Farage pulled the Brexit party candidates purely and simply because he realised that their participation in the election would ultimately make Brexit less likely. And really, like him or not you have to admire a politician who puts his principles before his own personal ambition.

That's too simple.
He's a Tory stooge who played his part, will get rewarded for it and carry on. Nothing else happening there.

Certainly not many outside of Hackney saw Labour as a credible alternative. But a much stronger factor is that everybody, irrespective of political bias, was and is sick to death of the deadlock and endless bickering. Any progress is better.
