The other day I was on an SIS Learjet to Rhodesia. En route to check out a few untied knots in the whole Robert Mugabe affair.
Fortunately the plane did not depressurise and kill everyone on board so we arrived at the runway still breathing.
After a slightly mad road trip in a nackered HiLux I was deposited at a palace with loads of gold stuff and really expensive cars. And some boats.
Not being a fan of flash gear my eye was drawn to the original "dugout" which as it's name suggests is made from a rotten tree which is "dug out" with a spade and converted into a fast motor launch with the addition of a transom and a sensible outboard motor.
Petrol is seriously cheap so the chosen unit was a Mercury 115 straight six "tower of power" two stroke with electric start and power trim/tilt. It's a blue band.
Amazing really that it has survived so long, a bit like it's former owner.
Anyway as it was one of Mugabe's personal assets I'm willing to let it go for £375. Buyer to pay for delivery. Boat may be sold separately if required. Engine is a non runner currently there are 7 spark plugs missing.
Happy bidding.

An adze is no use on rotten wood.

I am not really convinced there is a market for a dugout made from rotten wood......

Must be comforting to have such a vivid imagination. Others would call it delusional.

Must be comforting to have such a vivid imagination. Others would call it delusional. He gives scope for us all to let our imagination fly.... Mine is a little confined, constricted within ties of age related degeneration...however that said..sometimes the Peter Pan that resides within us all manages to break free....

I never knew that Mister Mugabe had a rough cut punt, is it round at the back and sharp at the front ?

I never knew that Mister Mugabe had a rough cut punt, is it round at the back and sharp at the front ? Rog Transom stern on it as it has a Mercury straight six outboard. Pointy front. Looks like it will really fly. I have consulted with a black african in-law type relative and he suggests it is a "pirogue". I agreed it was owned by a rogue but I think it's the wrong area for a pirogue as these are not black Africa boats usually. It's possible the vessel was made in the Caribbean and flown over in one of the numerous private aircraft.

I read this thread title and was expecting to see a picture of Robert Muagabe's Honda 90 complete with engine, imagine my disappointment to find it is not about Honda's motorcycle for the masses

I'm in relaxed mode, San Miguel in hand, its dusk, the fish is in the pan, birds having the last twitter of the day. ( we have a murmuration of starlings every night ) Excellent company, its 28 degrees. And we still have power! I'd send you a picture if I knew how. Mellow.
