That would be nice. I'd like a system whereby people are more free to do as they wish but equally, are made responsible if their actions are to the detriment of others. A system that supports local community rather than enforces a wider community. One where nobody feels entitled to anything, and nobody is forced into sharing, but one that promotes this through natural humanistic traits within family, friendship, local communities and charities.
Our current socialist system creates anger, bitterness and resentment. Those paying high taxes resent doing so, as they see little return, not much changes locally. Those 'entitled' are angry and bitter because however high their benefits are, they will never be high enough. The more socialism 'progresses' the more the anger, bitterness and resentment will grow.

On the other hand, greed should be curtailed, for the common good.

Give him a break Foxy, any new leader of a political party is entitled to an opening salvo. Once he settles down we'll see his true colours: a reactionary politician who flips from one populist issue to the next, very much in the Andy Burnham mould.

So did hospital staff ... some peoples role in life is to be at the sharp end ... giving us 'little people' the opportunity to hide away. You make no sense Jim . Why would setting up vaccination stations be a priority when we're at least 12 months from having a vaccination ASSUMING there will be a vaccination. My comments were intended to highlight that Labour have chosen another leader (like Blair) who is big on presentation but with no substance behind what he says. Rog You can't compare hard working dedicated hospital staff to Dominic's mates, who chose to huddle together despite the risk, knowing full well the potential consequences. They could simply have maintained their distance like the rest of us do. It's just not possible for ex public school boys to maintain social distancing and reach the biscuit.

Fascinated by Starmer's opening criticisms, and that he'll be pushing for national vaccination centres around the country. Bless ... someone should let him no there is no vaccine. I'm afraid instead of 'Corbyn-lite' the party may have ended up with 'Blair-lite' ... I really hope not. Rog It's called "pre planning" "being prepared" for when one of the many vaccines being developed quicker than ever before come on stream. That's not scoring political points, that's trying to keep people alive. Some of you think it acceptable that Dominic and his henchmen ignored their own Physical Distancing advice while "instructing" the rest of us to stay at home? The thing about you brain-dead leftie fuckwitts is this Jim. You were the most vocal in calling for a lockdown and were fiercely critical of Johnson for not taking far more severe action at a far earlier stage, yet in six months time when your troupe of clownwitted wankpuffins has been disbanded, there are five million unemployed and homes are being repossessed in their hundreds of thousands, you will be the first to bleat about how it's all happening because of "Tory austerity". Labour and its supporters do not understand the most basic rudiments of how the economy works, never have and never will.

Finland is on 'lockdown' of a sort, so we will see if this has had any effect on the spread of Covid-19 in a few weeks... if any of the statistics / what comes out of the government's mouth can be believed.
Fact is that I know of no-one who has Covid-19 up our way - or in Finland. Pirkko's brother was in hospital in January with very-C-19 symptoms and almost died - when/if the antibody (?) testing comes round, he should have that done to see if he has C-19 antibodies in his blood. Then, in January, we hadn't really heard of C-19, or it wasn't in-your-face News.
Schools in Finland have been closed for 2.5 weeks now. The border of Uusimaa was closed a week ago (a huge chunk of southern Finland where there are the most C-19 cases). In Lapland they have been making a fuss about people crossing the Finnish-Swedish border, a lot of people want that stopped; C-19 cases in Sweden are going up like crazy. Finland's border is closed, Norway's border is closed. There is freedom for us to drive anywhere apart from into Uusimaa. There is no shortage of food, drink, fuel, or toilet paper (yet). The roads are noticeably quieter, and there are no groups of people hanging around (too bloody cold anyway!).
I am still of the opinion that a 'shutdown' of everything is an interesting thing to try out. But, yes, now there are THOUSANDS of people out of work because of this, here in Finland, and the unemployment benefits system is swamped and cannot cope. Also, the whole thing has been somewhat of a farce, with no-one wearing masks in shops, and planes continually landing from Spain, Italy and China, as well as other C-19 hotspots like LONDON!
Just to sum up the situation as of the present. It is also ridiculous that Finland is not manufacturing its own masks / protective suits - these could be made of paper that could be burnt after use.

"you are a right little shit, aren't you? Raworth is as far as you and I know, complying with the instructions 100%. a person relaxing in the sun is not." Can you tell us how running (and spitting as she goes along?) in the street is potentially spreading the coronavirus less than someone sitting in a park? How about this chap? "New Zealand health minister breaks strict lockdown rules TWICE by taking his family to the beach and going mountain biking - but Jacinda Ardern refuses to fire him" "It was exercise". Not even a cut in his salary as punishment.

I don't comment about how lock-down is managed in Finland, why do you think it is useful to comment on what happens in my country?
If you really don't understand why Sophie is permitted to do what she is doing then you are out of touch with UK regulations. Obviously your subscription to the Daily Fail has lapsed.
