Welcome back Naughtyfox, I thought you'd flounced. No - just honouring the results of the Poll. Sorry! As for the K&A, it's actually quite nice between Newbury and Devizes. Few boats on the move. And the countryside of chalk hills has lots of little lanes all over the place, and footpaths, and there is Hungerford Common. Reading to Newbury was a bit bland, and spoiled partially by the threat of the 'Travellers'' lair(s) around Theale who have a reputation for stealing items off boats (an attempt of which happened whilst we were along that stretch). These would be the very same 'nice honest misunderstood gypsies' who murdered Policeman Andrew Harper a month later. We won't get past Hungerford again until June so can't say anything about the 'hippy corridor' of Bradford-upon-Avon, although I did walk along the Avon for a couple of miles in Bath and saw it was somewhat dreary.

Just now, today, Sunday 1325. I can't see Newbury being navigable until the line goes below 0.50m. From CRT's notices/stoppages page: Please be advised that following the recent spells of heavy rain, we are experiencing very strong stream conditions on the River Kennet between County Lock and Guyers Lock. Stream conditions are currently -RED. You have to admit it is a pretty stupid design to have a navigation like this have a river run into it and right in the centre of town where there is only the one bridge for everything to go through. It's a bit like having the Kings Cross - Edinburgh railway run down the M1 so trains and cars can all share the space alike. Why didn't they make the canal to the side of the River Kennet at this point? They weren't thinking, were they?

Not much point if it is an known known eh! Are you here because Canalworld has turned into an arid wasteland? Nah. You kidnapped me, remember! Congratulations on your winning photo BTW in the competition. It was certainly a quality entry, worthy of the win. I think the BFG started a photography thread a few weeks back looking for 'tips and tricks'.Perhaps you could offer some pointers if you haven't already done so.

Are you here because Canalworld has turned into an arid wasteland? Nah. You kidnapped me, remember! Sounds pervy. True, I suppose. There's no harm looking in on here now and then, both forums seem neck-and-neck to me nowadays, perhaps the natural equilibrium has been achieved.Congratulations on your winning photo BTW in the competition. Thankee.I think the BFG started a photography thread a few weeks back looking for 'tips and tricks'.Perhaps you could offer some pointers if you haven't already done so. I did think about this for a moment, but it's the 'horse and water' catch. I think you need to read a bit about photography and have some experience for starters - I've made my own black & white photos, taken slides, read piles of photography magazines, but at the end of the day you have to think what you want and go and get it (eg. sunrise - get up at 4am you lazy sod! - not easy, I know). Or you can just wander along hunting for something, and here the background experiences (sometimes painful and cringing believing you have a good photo but suspecting it's crap and finally accepting it's just another for the bin) hover in the background. This is mostly what I do these days - a set of about 35 photos to make a 'music + pics video' of 'dramatic shots' - so you have to look around for subjects that might fit. Trees are an easy one, but so easy it's cheating a bit - and people will soon get sick of 35 photos of trees however striking. A photo of somebody weighing parsnips in Waitrose? Not really for Sibelius's 'Swan of Tuonela'. Of the set of pics I made for my West Berkshire Christmas clip I have some favourites and part of the reason for those is that I made the effort to be there, to walk there. Got to admit I was lucky and got away with a lot with the lighting/clouds helping me out. I don't have an expensive camera, just a little Olympus Stylus SH-1 which has a few special effects programmes thrown in, and some rather stupid design faults, such as being a bugger trying to find the ISO-speed change which isn't available in all modes, and the timer has silly limitations. Others will (and have here!) disagree, but one of the remarks I remember mostly about taking photos is that if it is too much trouble to put the camera on a tripod to take the shot, is it really worth taking? (yes, yes, I know there are exceptions). My most common trick is to have the camera on a timer (2 seconds usually) and hold the damn thing still to reduce camera shake.
I have already found two pieces of music I want to use for our February trip photos. Sometimes just listening to the music images will pop into your mind, so you want to go and find something like those to stick in at that part of the music.

Much as it sticks in my craw, they have to be looked after for the service they have done for us in the past, a bit like paying for ex Prime Ministers security. Except for Thatcher, given the damage she caused the nation she should have stumped up herself. Or just get Dennis a baseball bat to put by the front door.

The sad irony of it is that by removing themselves from the right royal family and attempting to hide they will get exactly what they don't want. More media intrusion. Not less.
The paperazzholes killed the bloke's mother when he was a child. That's really quite nasty. No wonder he would like to get away from them but they will redouble their efforts now as pictures of the couple and the poor kid are going to be in high demand.
Drones innit.
Nice family picnic on the beach with 27 drones flying about.
What a horrible life.

And if you consider them to be 'unattributed' then why not just consider them to be mine? It's the content that counts, not the source.

They should be exposed for the virtue-signalling hypocrites they are. Will they be looking for honest jobs (what are their qualifications??!!) or sucking the UK-taxpayer teat as per usual? Meghan doesn't like people taking pictures of her in a public park. It's a public place, and you have made yourself into a celebrity-magnet, Megs, you have only yourself to blame. "HEY – Meghan, what part of “it’s a public park and anyone is allowed to take photographs IN A PUBLIC PARK”! are you having trouble understanding? Did the filthy oiks get in the way of your “relaxing in the park just like someone mortal and ordinary” photoshoot with Hello/Goodbye/Diamondfroth magazine?"

I bet the ex royals will have adder number pretty quickly.
