Last week here on TV was an interview with Gandalf, you know, the wizard who plays that bloke... whassisname?.... Ian McKellen. Asked what he thought about the most he said; "Death. I think about it every day. How I will die."
"Sir Ian McKellen, 78, has admitted he thinks about his own death every day. The Lord Of The Rings star opens up about his funeral plans in a documentary, McKellen: Playing the Part, confessing he once spent 'the most enjoyable evening' drafting his ideal send-off. Sir Ian, who turns 79 next month, admitted he's planned such an occasion, that he wishes he could be there himself.
Sir Ian insists that he has accepted his mortality, pointing out: 'As I see other people getting decrepit and unable to work, I think, well, that may well happen to me.' "

Sir Ian insists that he has accepted his mortality, pointing out: 'As I see other people getting decrepit and unable to work, I think, well, that may well happen to me.' " He may well regret that. Well, he won't because he'll be dead. My Gran was the same, she had all the music planned, loads of airy organ stuff, how my dad and his three sons would carry the coffin... The funeral ripper-offers wouldn't let us carry the coffin, my parents didn't want to make a fuss so that didn't happen and the organ was broken so the airy organ music was played on a piano, sort of one note or chord every 10 seconds...ok maybe every "few" seconds but I can vouch that ethereal organ music doesn't work ...at all...on a piano. Then we burnt her because she had nightmares about her body being eaten by worms. She was never morbid about her funeral plans, death was a fact of life there was no denying and she was a practical woman who wanted to make the best job of it as it couldn't be avoided.

If scientists gave absolute proof to the PTB that we've gone past the point of no return, would they put honest intelligent leaders in place, or incompetent nincompoops? ¹

I have sometimes thought about how I would like to die, but haven't decided yet. If you could see how you were going to die - and couldn't change the future/outcome - would you be interested in seeing it? Would I like to die in my sleep/unconscious? -where would be the fun in that? I think I would like to know it's happening. But I don't think I would like to be flattened by having something heavy fall on me, there would be no time to reflect on one's past. It would just be "Oh bollocks!" Splat. I should spend time thinking about this. I have already realised there's no point in amassing great wealth in terms of money and property, you can't take it with you, just try to enjoy life as much as you can before you become too decrepit. Somewhat unfair for one's parents to have you, because by having a child they have already made a human with death to look forwards to. It's good to be gloomy sometimes. And then you can cheer yourself up with a cup of cappuccino and a couple of chocolate biscuits.

The best thing would be to ban worthless idiots from reproducing. Allow the more intelligent types to do so in order to provide clever people who can help sort out all the shit. I'm a believer in humans ability to adapt to situations so I don't think it's all terrible but a good move would be to stop the idiots. No idea how to do that though. There is no evidence that supports the notion that parents with a high i.q will breed superior offspring. However the inheritance of genetic abnormality is well-established. Some people once attempted to capitalise on that fact but I hear it all ended badly.

Maybe they are cleverer and kinder than you? only a fool would bring more children into a world if you knew they might never live to enjoy it or the future was so poor that they might suffer all their life Anyway, those living in London think: "The World is overcrowded!", those living in Jasper, Alberta are thinking: "Hey, where is everybody?!!" There is still plenty of surface on this planet to support a few billion more. The issue is less about available space and more about available resources. Still, there's lots of trees to build log cabins with in Finland. And once they are all chopped down, plenty of space to build in too.

After all, we didn't make ourselves did we? The other half is learning to treat others like we all want to to be treated ourselves. That is exactly right Foxy, we all want to enjoy life. Sharing life with others just enhances that. The final hurdles are usually stubbornness and ego. Who knows what Level 43 will bring?

Intelligent people have no self control. Perhaps people in general lack self control, but intelligent ones do more damage - they invent nuclear bombs just to see if it can be done without regard to it's use, they invent medicines that have helped rapidly accelerate over-population and the destruction of our habitat (and are still doing it!), they invent the means by which people can hold others in slavery (money/machinery/political systems/weapons etc etc). Intelligent people have a lot to answer for. Off with there heads I say and leave the harmless fools to bumble about with the other wildlife, living within the capacity of their immediate area, or dying. Always thought I was intelligent, then I realised that just lead to me being the fool doing all the work so I must in fact be thick.

Thankfully, I eventually bought a boat..............

I saw a dead fish on the beach at Kuta, Bali earlier. It was a tuna, quite a large one. It clearly died through de oxygenisation of the ocean because of the higher temperature. This is clear proof that the planet is becoming uninhabitable. Fish first, humans second. Anyone who denies this, or even seeks to question this hard fact is a moron/ selfish beyond description/ American.
