www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-51220730Bit of a weird story. Possible canal connection as well as it was in Hopwas woods. I remember walking my dog there years ago there was a stoppage and was stuck other side near Lichfield for a while. Anyway the woman was walking 5 dogs when they vanished never to be found. Mystery? It seems probable to me that if they were valuable dogs they were probably taken away by some pikeys and sold on. I think Hopwas woods was a military range which I suppose could have caused problems as a lot of dogs are afraid of loud bangs. Bit of an odd one.

I expect she sold them. Divorced, nervous breakdown, too many dogs boarding, sounds short of cash and not quite in control of things.

Just torture her until she spills the beans. The Chinese are very good at torture. You'll find some at Sheffield University.
