It's all a bit unconvincing. Massive fires rage in australia. 25 people killed. Dodgy virus in China kills 18. There definitely need to be some zeros on these numbers A few dozen here and there really doesn't amount to a hill of beans.

I find it interesting to note that the Black Death, the most destructive biological disaster in the history of the human race, was just a blip in the curve. And for a pandemic to have a genuinely serious effect in global population figures, about 5 billion or so need to die. Even so, the global population will have returned to present-day levels in around a century.
Ok I'm in the asteroid (sorry really big meteorite) camp. Or maybe triffids.

well this does not seem to be a potential cause of world population collapse. It appears that so far the fatalities are running at about 4% (although if it becomes a pandemic this would rise due to health care not being able to cope with the numbers) So far it seems that most of the fatalities have been elderly men (mostly with previous health problems) As far as reducing the population this is not very effective.... you need to kill off a lot of young bleeders (sorry...... breeders )

To be fair if it did get uncontrolled and start killing off people in large numbers based on general health then it could have a cascading effect.
In terms of survival of the race it's probably more sound to do away with older and less healthy people before killing healthy people producing healthy infant units.
One of the recognised problems facing society in general is an increasingly ageing population. If everyone was old it would soon start to cause some issues.

Definitely and I have my fingers crossed It's much better for people to be in charge of their own lives so I would advocate open availability of cyanide pills. Obviously I have these due to the MI6 work but if many more people had these it could help massage the population figures downwards. It's got to be better than wars.

I was idly wondering if a virus might survive in a package sent by air mail.
