I see passage bookings are now open on the CRT web site for this years season. We've booked the Ribble Link and Anderton lift for around April/May. Lots of slots available. It seems the Anderton lift now levies an 'admin' charge of £5 each way.
Interestingly it seems you can book the Harecastle tunnel now. In the past you could just turn up on the day. I wonder if you still can?

If you book the Anderton Lift. If you just turn up and they have a slot, it's free. Anyway, by the time you turn up it'll be broken. Again.

If you are booked northbound at 14:00 and boats turn up at the northern portal at 13:30 with nothing in the tunnel, are they going to hold them there for nearly an hour and a half when the northbound boat might not even turn up? What Foxy said about Anderton, it's free if you just turn up and wait for a slot.

Ribble Link is fab. Don't cut the corner at the Asland Lamp.

I think harecastle booking is only for out-of-season passages when it’s otherwise closed.

Ribble Link is fab. Don't cut the corner at the Asland Lamp. I'll try not to. I worked at BAe Warton (the airfield you aim for) sometimes in the 80/90s. They were doing engine test runs on the Lightnings right next to us. They were prepping them for sale to Saudi I seem to remember. No wonder I've got tinnitus! Any other tips welcome. I'm a bit worried my RN DM2 is up go the job TBH. It's got most of its 18bhp and has a 24 inch prop and plenty of torque...but still

It's a hard slog because you are running against the tide all the way, they let you on to the River Douglas at Tarleton about 90 minutes before high tide, and you do the turn at Asland just as the tide is turning so you are then punching against the outgoing tide. If you don't get to Savick Brook in time the water level will have dropped too far for navigation.

It seems pretty well controlled by CRT. I did consider a tow but I think we'll just go for it and see what happens. What could possibly go wrong!

They've stated previously that it's an option they are looking at with pre bookings.

I've always said I don't mind paying for the privilege to cruise the system, but only if they don't waste our money! I wonder, would the money get used to improve the infrastructure, or would it pay for someone to impose more control over our boating? (Dont answer that one)

All this week I've been thinking bp3 is 'donkey'! Now I know... As I said to erm...never mind..I've never attempted to hide my identity (well with exception to Caveman). I've evolved from bassplayer to bp2 (momentarily) to bp3.

Is Donkey still around, then? Even I get a bit lost with around 15 resurrections! Did he honour the 4-week stayaway?
