Attention dogless! As you seem to like this sort of stuff. I had in mind to record my journey to work as the weather and lighting has been nice these past few days, and so it was again this morning. The tripod was not particularly stable in the car, and the music stops early, but this is not a very serious sort of thing. You can see the road is fairly devoid of traffic. Left home around 0610 this morning.

I'll put this in here as it's nothing to do with boating. This afternoon there were no kids to take home at all for the 1425 runs, so all 3 buses went home in a row. Not seen that before. I had my camera in the car and we thought I could film all of us coming in at the same time. Only I had forgotten I had turned my engine off, so, late to the party as always!

Alasalmi chain ferry. Just to the east of Manamansalo, which is Finland's 5th biggest island in the middle of Lake Oulu, is this old water mill. Pirates operated in this area in the 1860s, known as 'The Hunger Years', and they would rob the tar boats travelling to Oulu on the west coast.

Found a nice 'kota' east of Suomussalmi where we can grill sausages inside over a little fire, right beside a small rushing river with rapids. Good spot to park the car and sleep inside it. No point in driving further, unlikely to find a better place. 400km driven. 8.15pm and time to open the beers. Through Hossa (region/national park) tomorrow. Phone signal too weak here to upload photos.

Juntusranta. Camera on 30min timelapse - rowing boat & clouds going past... Strange short vertical scratches on one side of the car this morning, about 9 of them, I'm thinking bear claws. Saw us inside sleeping? Didn't hear anything. Not from stones thrown up by passing traffic. Nice and warm for breakfast! Anyone can use these. Firewood logs already stacked, toilets out back, rushing river adjacent:

Nothing to do with boating! (Well, there's a chain ferry and a rowing boat). Just some clips I filmed at normal speed on last week's trip by car to the Kainuu region, north-west Finland. Video is 4:22 minutes long. If the subtitles don't appear, click on the little cc icon at the bottom right and choose 'ON':

And here's a slightly faster version (no subtitles)(two ferries!):
