"REBECCA LONG-BAILEY, Labour leadership contender, has been mocked for a bizarre pledge to ban work emails outside working hours." "She said under her Government, trade unions would be given the power to negotiate with bosses to enforce positive changes, as part of her bid to become leader of the Labour Party to replace outgoing Jeremy Corbyn." "Political commentator Suzanne Evans tweeted: “Clearly, Rebecca Long-Bailey has never been self-employed, nor had to work across international time zones, or done a job involving emergency callouts. What a total klutz.” " "Another said: “Every person must have the freedom to send emails and reply to emails as it suits their particular circumstances. Legislation banning such communications is an infringement of civil liberties that deprive the individual the due process of justice in all endeavours.” " "A Twitter user wrote: “More meaningless sound-bites and fatuous waffle! and practical only in a 9-5 office setting! The real world is vastly more complicated than that!” One simply added: “She definitely lives in a bubble!!” Another posted: “RLB has obviously never worked a 24/7 job." “If I’m working nights and go home an hour before my boss starts work, do I have to wait until he starts to send him an important email?” Having spent many years having to reply/read (mostly shite) emails out of hours, I support her.
Time and a place for everything... Next job I have will not require it even if I have to resort to flipping burgers.

Have a look at the first 10 seconds of this to see how rude Corbyn really is. Not very social for a 'socialist':

Yes but seriously, as a labour party supporter, are you happy with the leadership contenders available? Well, we have a mixture, as with most parties. They are all more honest than Boris for a start, that must be a good thing. Some of his latest speechifying statistics were roundly trounced of BBC r4 More or Less, utter "exaggeration" aka "lies". He takes his cue from Trump, or rather Dom does and tells Boris what to say. The majority voted for boris, you're the minority. That in itself rules out any momentum you seek to gain. All you lefties ever do is make up stories, shout, abuse and generally make fools of yourselves. Anyway, carry on...

"she opens her mouth and a steam of useless words spew out. she is totally inept."
"After careful consideration, I have decided Miss Long Bailey is a fool."
"She is thick as mince..."
"She looks about 12. Wears glasses to make her look older and more mature. Dribbles on about Jeremy this, Jeremy that, we are quite clear on this, etc This is Labour's shadow business minister. Oh dear."
"She spoke a million words but said nothing !"
"Presumably, her wealth of experience in running a pawn shop, working in a call centre and preparing documents for property conveyancing is qualification enough to run the economy?"

I am certainly no fan of the Conservatives, but Labour remind me of the Covenanters of Scotland in the 17th Century, pretending to wage war against the evil Royalists for the good of the people yet really just scrabbling to line their own pockets and grab power. There are some very nasty people in the Labour Party.

Time and a place for everything...
I send and receive e-mails from my employer, it's a very useful way of communication if done in a civilised way. I am in no obligation to read anything from them via e-mail, and neither are they from me, but it makes things all round run more smoothly. We also use WhatsApp messages - let's say my bus ends up in a ditch I can take photos of it and send them instantly so they can assess how best to pull it out. Yes, I am not at work when I am not being paid.... but putting in extra effort sometimes without payment usually leads to things being better all round. Often time and trouble invested pays for itself later.

Always being switched on and available is in my opinion not the best way to achieve a work/life balance for a majority of people.

I don't like this idea of having your own thread.
It's just like the playground where bullys create thier own bubble and those who are afflicted do the same.
I thought Thunderboat was all about speaking ones mind....even if we might be wrong.....or pissed....

Anyway whoever it was who initiated this thread missed a Y out of the title.
Sometimes I am ashamed to be part of such an incompetent group of individuals.
It really is quite shocking, and upsetting.
I agree that individual "ownership" of threads is the wrong approach.

I agree that individual "ownership" of threads is the wrong approach. Doesn't need to have a y but looks cuter. Happy now? This was froggy's idea. Blame him.
