What is that shit, Jim? Can you get it off my channel? Thanks! It's completely on thread. Don't touch me there! A phrase oft heard in Finnish saunas, Shirley. Immsmr it was on a punk compilation album I bought in '77. Which reminds me of a photo I've just come across, I'll switch to tapatalk and post it.

Just having some fun driving home for my breakfast this morning. 5 minutes squeezed into 20 seconds rate for the first two clips. 30 minutes squeezed into 20 seconds rate for the third clip (I go to the shop on the right). 10 minutes squeezed into 20 seconds rate for the 4th clip (I go to the bank on the left). 5 minutes squeezed into 20 seconds rate for the 5th clip. Bit shaky on the drives, only a gorilla tripod - not my normal tripod weighted down. The bus from Alavieska at 0:12 - same company - I know the driver. Will send this to him

Keep fit while you are locked down naughtyfox. Train for the big akankanto race. Can you be the first Finns across the Finnish line? I suppose, if you aren't up for it, Pirrko could carry you, claim equal ops in the EU court if they won't let her.

It's probably cancelled for now. We will be keeping fit next week by chopping down a few hundred trees. I'm just about to go and clean our chainsaw. Tomorrow to buy a couple of new chains - we have one new, and also four that could be sharpened. Make firewood whilst the coronavirus shines, eh?

Do you sharpen your chains with a file or do you have one of those grinding wheel ones? I probably have about 8 chains, I sit down and sharpen them all at once, use the old ones for wood that might have nails in it.

I started by using a round file for the pointy teeth and a flat file for the dog teeth, but then was persuaded to get one of these: which does both teeth at the same time. It's OK, but the results are NEVER the same as a brand new chain. Yes, I do sharpen our chains when I feel like it - chain saw 'laippa' ('blade') in a vice, lock on, saw sitting on wooden blocks on a bench. After doing the teeth in one direction, I turn the table the saw sit on to the other side of the vice so as to do the other teeth in their direction. I guess it's 10 minutes per chain. There are hundreds of trees still to cut down around the bus garage in Kannus, might as well make use of this opportunity.

Back in the mists of time, early '70's, I used to look after the fuel installation as part of my duties with a General Aviation company. 4 tanks, 80 octane. 100/130 octane and 2 of Avtur. Weekly water drain checks were required. Drained into a big old sweet jar. I wasn't allowed to return the drainings to the Tank, It would have been polluting to empty them onto the gravel surrounding the tanks.
I had to burn it under controlled conditions. Yes, it all went into the tank of my old A40!!
I presume similar controlled conditions might be applied to the trees around Foxy's bus garage!!

It's beef. And horseradish paste. How do you get that identical radius on the corners of each slice? Even the stuff that comes in polypropylene packets is more irregular shaped than your beef.

I set it up in the workmate, sit on a stool, 3 or 4 mins per chain, do all the chains at once. www.screwfix.com/p/scheppach-ks-1000-100mm-electric-universal-chain-sharpener-230v/5919J?kpid=5919J&ds_kid=92700022885045619&gclsrc=aw.ds&ds_rl=1241687&ds_rl=1245250&ds_rl=1244066&gclid=Cj0KCQjwmdzzBRC7ARIsANdqRRnXt-DjYIsU2dEW33Zq-P7nYcY5SqQAh1htJRByp1in7aXQ2Ya4tYcaAugXEALw_wcB

We went to collect some more firewood yesterday afternoon and I thought I'd see what I could make of it through the eye of the camera. Not my best effort, just some random nonsense. There are still a lot of trees already downed, that we felled last year, but many are stuck to the ground by ice. We think the first job is to remove those before they rot (it'll take 3 years for that to happen) and lose their heat value. Now we have two trailer loads from this week which is about 4 hours cutting-into-logs time. We'll do that out the back when we feel like it, but there's nowhere to store them just yet as one 'cage' has been uprooted and we're transferring that to the other side of the garden at a further distance from the house (fire regulations - 8 metres from the house) - and we can't erect it yet as the ground is frozen until around August.
Up early tomorrow to catch the sunrise and go for a walk in unknown territory - I see on the maps a link between the River Viirre valley and our Lestijoki river valley, going to explore that. Pirkko is now scared of meeting a wolf - I said I'd kick it in the teeth. Then she said what about a bear? So we'll take a big stick along too.
