Looks likely that we'll be taking the boat nowhere next week, just up to Newbury & back if we're lucky. Remember as fast as it comes it goes, however another rain storm is due on Thursday according to the forecast, also remeber you only have a tiny engine take no chances It's Karma because we have the temerity to fly over and have created all this climate change. We can only look to ourselves for the blame.

"Our colleagues @networkrail have confirmed that the line through Rotherham will remain closed tomorrow, Monday 17 February and as a result Tram Train services will not operate."

Blimey - it didn’t look like that last summer! Centre of York isn’t looking too good either. Bridge headroom looks a bit low even for a canoe!

Is your friend Tree the one who used to be a contributor to CWDF a few years ago?

When the levels started dropping to about that in the photo I was up in York with one of Whitaker's tankers, 'Humber Navigator', to collect an ex-Scott's lighter from Queen's Staithe just after New Year for use in the proving trials for getting AIL's up to the new Staythorpe power station on the Trent. The lighter had floated over the top of the wharf in the worst of the floods, and it's deck edge - with around 6' freeboard - had chewed up a window cill and the brickwork above it on the first floor of the building at the downriver end of the wharf !

Proper bit of ship handling, that is, . . . rounding-up in those conditions and dropping into a berth ! Ditch crawling pleasure boaters who make such a song and dance about turning across a big tide or current should watch that and take note. Confidence and commitment are all. Great stuff, . . full marks for the skipper !

You know it's bad when the garages totally disappear ..... wasn't as bad as that when I was trapped there, you could still see a couple of foot or so of the arches

Rain but not biblical, wind but much less than last weekend ...... river up and climbing but still well below previous weeks. Beverley seems to have dodged this one the floods here are worse than last time. I’ve got two feet of water over the towpath today, at cranfleet. So I’m not going anywhere today. The levels still going up apparently , but should be okay. I’ve got scaff poles down, although I’ll run out pole if it rises much more.

The EA gauge just lowside of Cranfleet Lock is presently showing 14' above the lower figure for the 'typical range' for the Trent at that location. My mooring is a bit under 3 miles downriver from Cranfleet, and the water is just lapping at the bottom of the plug and socket on the electric post high up on the bank.

Presumably one has had the wit to disconnect the electricity supply?

Presumably one has had the wit to disconnect the electricity supply? No, . . one has had the wit NOT to switch off or disconnect the supply whilst standing up to one's waist in water !
