Funny, I used to think kris and Tony were mates. I guess Tony is only happy when he hates everyone.

It's CRT doing it. Divide and conquer innit.
find people who have roughly the same view (CRT are shit) and get them fighting each other.
Perfect.

As the canals are 200 years old and falling apart, isn't it about time they upped the licence fee to help pay for all the maintenance?

No, its time they stopped wasting money. 2018/2019 Income £192m Expenditure £188m of which £31.8m was spent raising funds of £3.4m, £75.6m spent on purchasing of properties You see wheer this is going don't you...

Well, yes - they'd purchase properties with the aim of doing them up and selling them for a huge profit, and then ploughing that profit into canal maintenance. You see, they do have boaters' interests at heart!

Hurrah!

Nice theory, Andrew, . . but a long way wide of the mark if you think that C&RT could ever have any influence on my actions or thinking. On the other hand, someone with aspirations of becoming part of the establishment decision and policy making process wouldn't want to be seen to be embarrassing the powers that be with a public demonstration of how far short they're falling of the statutory maintenance obligations, . . . would they ? Providing someone with a mooring for couple of years can be quite enlightening as to the true character behind an internet charade !

Someone needs to come and sort it out.
Maybe direct action à la A-Team is what is needed.
Get it sorted and take the risk.

Could have just summed that meeting up with one statement.. 'Any problems call CRT' In a similar vein and somewhat reminiscent of the non-committal bullshitting and wind-bagging evident over the last few weeks in a certain 14 page thread on here. It appears to begin so positively, but rapidly fizzles out at the prospect of any practical involvement, . . . and strangely enough, all from an aspiring but unsuccessful ''Boater's Representative", . . I do believe !
