Break-ins, acts of vandalism and loutishness occur wherever the burglars, vandals or louts happen to be at any given moment.
If you're unfortunate, you may be where they are at the same time, can't blame the village.
We were burgled at Braunston, had the bird feeders and stand stolen at Gt Haywood, fishing tackle stolen at Shipton-on-Cherwell, and solar lights stolen at Brownsover in the last 15 years.
None are bad places, we were just there at bad times.

Steady on @froggy ... thought you were on my side.
Alrewas is a lovely village ... terrific butchers and pubs.
The George & Dragon did really good home made food.
Twenty minute walk to the National Arboretum, which is worth a visit (if a slightly odd tourist attraction).

Sorry, couldn't resist..
Think its going to be the Caldon now, looking at the map can move the boat up that way and get the train back easy enough.

You're such a charmer aren't you? " any chance of something a bit more recent instead of this “cut and paste piffle”. " Not having been introduced properly, I thought that rather rude.

"to quote lollygagger above, Do one maggot. lol." - ah! Purple Helmet is the delightful and fragrant 'bell bottoms'.
"Weyward Lass isnt my boat, I used that picture as I thought it summed up my current mental position perfectly, Lol"
Lol indeed.
"I still think I will keep naughtyfox at arms length though." - yet you cannot help yourself.

It was accurate ... your cut and paste events dated back to 2009/2010 ... and as it was the views of others, not your self, it was hardly rude. Your comment however was Rog

We were burgled at Braunston, ... None are bad places, we were just there at bad times. Rog Braunston is an awful hellhole I've never seen anything like it. Last time I was there the "Jesus Army" had overrun the place. That was a while back I suppose about 15 years and there was an incredibly patronising and irritating geyser running a large marina there. And that's not to mention the trunk road slicing up the -would-be-ok- bit of canal. Horrible. Maybe it has changed. I heard there are wide beans there now which is absolutely terrible.

I love Braunston ... even though we got 'done ' there.
The centre of the system I always think, always busy with boats.
We have loads of folk we know there, and our very first boat show we attended was there ... later it re located to Crick.

I rang the bells at Braunston church in July And I fitted a new diesel pipe (low pressure) on our boat engine, my first time for that. Braunston is OK.

Planning my trip, I have four weeks till we go, thinking of moving boat next weekend somewhere after Atherstone locks then week after to somewhere up near fradley, this would mean I have 8 days to get to the end of the caldon, I will leave the boat somehwere on the caldon for a couple of weeks then move it back down over a long weekend to fradley.
So question is where is good to leave on the caldon for two weeks?
Also thinking I might bomb up to burton before heading up to the caldon, reason is I haven’t been that way and fancy a night out there as never been out in burton and I like to visit new boozers when given the chance!

Not sure on most of your questions. However....
Bonus points if you make the turn in front of a large lunch time crowd and take a bow whilst doing so! (one of my better maneuvers...).
