Hi, All these reports are from 9 and 10 years ago, any chance of something a bit more recent instead of this “cut and paste piffle”. only just found this thread and may be repeating myself BUT I was broken into at Alrewas Oct 2019, batteries, generator, and other practical stuff, defo boaters knew what they doing. Obviously this is a BLIGHTED area which others should be aware off, shame there are good moorings and then straight into a pretty village with all the facilities needed. Oh... how ironic.... when I said Alrewas was a hotbed of thieves and I got jumped on! The proof is in the pudding, as they say.

Not really - the thieves in Alrewas are just 10 years older and have 10 years' more experience. Stop at your peril!

Moored just south of stoke now, must admit I do like the T&M, it’s a lovey canal.. went for a drive round Stone today as left the car there and wanted some bits from B£M, looks like a nice little town with plenty of eating places, mate have stop there if we come back this way..
Tomorrow is a light day up through stoke, water and rubbish dump then head to the lake mooring place before the tunnel to meet a fellow Twitter boater hopefully for a beer, then passage booked for Monday..
No idea where we are heading after that.
Funny how boating takes away all the dramas and stress of home life

Well what a shit hole stoke is, no mooring anywhere all the way from Britannia stadium up to the top lock, not that any sane person would want to moor there anyway... grim.
Now moored at west thingy lake, new horn fitted, chimney removed, lamb in the oven, cold beer in hand, life is good!
We go through the tunnel at 10 so hoping to have a good day and get to Chester with maybe a trip up to Ellesmere if we have time.

You should have travelled through Stoke twenty odd years ago if you think it a 'shit hole' now Where you pass the dry ski slope, just after China Gardens (regenerated site of the Garden Festival) you used to cruise through a derelict steel rolling mill that straddled the canal. It's positively gentrified these days. Rog

You'd better be on your guard then as we're on route to the Llangollen as I type - just hiding under a tree in Worsley right now as it's tipping it down. Manchester centre tonight , Stretford Marina for a couple of days electric and then on our way again.
Ironically after that dash, the rain coming down now MUST be filling up the reservoirs - I've got my wellies on in the boat just in case!

Well that was a long day, West Point lake to somewhere in the middle of knowhere, canal plan say I have only done 11 miles but the tunnel and 26 locks make it feel like a lot longer, if I had an earlier slot this morning through the tunnel I would have been tempted to carry on to the junction at middlewich but alas, good thing really as it’s just started pissing it down, bloke moored behind me had not ling lit his bbq ...
