Hmmm, X7? Not a bad tool, but not a Yamaha two stroke twin I've got a nice original 1980 250LC, had it since I was 19, lovely thing that sadly never gets used. I've had several RD'S including a Spondon framed 400 as well as a YDS7 that I should never have let go Couldn't get into Suzuki in the same way as the Yams. i used to work in a garage next door to spondon. They make some amazing motorbikes or used to anyway. Mine was a steel frame for a water cooled TZ race bike that had been road registered, the yoke castings were exquisite, nice boarani rims and big AP Lockhead calipers all round - proper bit of kit that I foolishly swapped for a Saab 900 - not a turbo I might add

Yes the 250LC was a nice bike, quicker than the X7 I think. The one thing I didn't like about it was its styling. It was one of the earlier bikes to adopt what I think they called 'Eurostyling'; where the lines of the tank dropped into the side panels. I much prefer the original styling where the tank and side panels were distinctively different, more 'boxy'. The air cooled RDs were nice. Your bike is maybe worth £3.5K, you probably know that already! I know what you mean, big difference from say a coffin tank RD to an LC in styling. I had a RD400DX that was an utter bastard if the timing was slightly out, the 400E was better but still had a frame made of what seemed like sprung steel! The LC was a big step forward, particularly the 350, but, like everything, stuff has moved on big time. The noise, smell and power delivery never gets boring though! The prices are mad aren't they? 20 years ago shitters were changing hands for £50-100 round here, good uns maybe £500-600 Had I a crystal ball and some space (and not been a skint yoof!) I would have held on to the stuff that's passed thru my hands Will try to find time to get a shot if mine up at some point. Got a very nice VFR 400 that came from Stainforth - collecting that is the closest I've been to the canal

Especially as it would be perfect for the back deck. As for spondon the boss was friends with the owner of the garage I worked in. I rebuilt his ford v6 which was in a scimitar. So we where always in and out of there.its probably nearly 30 years ago. Some of the bikes where incredible. I always remember a bi-moto In yellow.

They turned out some incredible Ali stuff back then, Spondon framed GSXR was about as good as it got when I was a kid! Must have been interesting seeing the stuff they built. Trouble was, the japs got the hang of mass producing good Ali frames so all of a sudden there wasn't as much incentive to get a bespoke frame.

It was certainly interesting for a wide eyed teenager.

I kinda prefere bikes from this era, I suppose a lot of people do that's why they are so exspensive.

I'm surprised the tax authorities didn't write to you to suggest you were a trader Mine: ss50, seized it up after 2 days, no oil. rs100. X7. cb250n which I thought was boring until I nearly killed myself and vowed never to go on a bike again. After a break of 30 years I bought a gn125 5 1/2 years ago which is still going strong, despite minimal servicing.

Lots of fellow bikers here.
Puch VZ50, Yamaha FS1E, Honda CB200, Kawasaki Z400 (2 of), MZ250, Honda RS250, Honda VT250, Kawasaki KH400, Honda CG125 (2 of), Yamaha Divi 600S, Kawasaki ER6F.
I used to be a despatch rider in London (now called motorcycle couriers) in the late 70s....and I'm still alive! My face was black after a days work. Got through 3 bikes so it didn't work out very viable as a job even then
Since living on the boat I've let biking go but I've been offered my daughter's BMW Rotax 650 so if I can find somewhere to keep it, might get back on the saddle again.
