Latest from Scandinavia:
Finland's government has announced that it will open its borders to residents of Norway and Denmark from Monday next week, as part of a wider reopening to Nordic and Baltic nations.
From Monday June 15th, the Nordic nation will open its borders to Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Visitors to these countries will also no longer have to go into quarantine on return to Finland.
Finland's interior minister Maria Ohisalo said that the country had decided not to include Sweden in the border decision, due to the higher level of coronavirus infection in the country. "Unfortunately the epidemic situation in Sweden is so bad that we are still not able to lift restrictions for Sweden," she said.
Norway will allow travel to and from all regions of Finland, Sweden and Iceland that have an 'acceptable' infection level – a criterion that rules out every region in Sweden apart from the island of Gotland."

I knew naughtyfox 's cut n paste rubbish would get us all noticed for unpleasant reasons ... but I never expected 'the Donald' to intervene. Of course it COULD be possible his ire will be more focused Rog Having seen the anti trump stuff all over social media they would have us believe that Trump hates china too and would probably love all those posts.

Having a look at Railforums to get an idea what train travel is like these days in the UK, oldest comment from yesterday evening:
"Hmm, well I did go to London (and Brighton) today. Leaving a busy Brighton on a sunny summer Sunday afternoon at 1720 on a 12-car 700 to London with all of a dozen passengers on it, did not dispel my opinion that the railways are in very deep trouble. Nor did the empty buses running around the streets of Brighton help me think buses are in any better state. As for London - well, yes, the tube was a little busier, and I saw the occasional bus with as many as six people on it! But there the constant announcements to ‘do this’, ‘don’t do this’, ‘you must do that’, ‘this helps to keep us safe’, etc. etc., combined with the masses of silly signage and tedious one-way systems, just drained the will to live from me."
"If people can't walk into a pub for a drink or two without making a booking in advance, then I don't see how the pub industry can survive in the long term. A rule like this is obviously made up by someone who doesn't frequent pubs on a regular basis, and is in a similar vein to the suggestion that you need to reserve a slot for the London Underground cannot try handle or try on clothes in a department store need to quarantine books that have been handled by a customer in a book shop."
"There is no way that society can function anywhere as well as did without leading to a probable resurgence in the virus. In summer these measures are essentially untenable and being embraced only out of desperation - come winter what's left of the hospitality and supporting industries will simply die. We will still not be permitted to visit family for Christmas, or do any of the things that bring us joy.It appears the entire next school year will essentially be a writeoff. Vast numbers of people will be thrown into destitution when the chancellor finally bows to reality and withdraws the free money for the furlough scheme. There is no way to prevent this whilst suppressing the virus - despite what the people who worship the vapourware of contact tracing like to claim. If a totalitarian regime in China has a spike serious enough that it not only had to admit that it was happening, but had to openly impose a lockdown in it's capital - two months after it claimed the virus eradicated.... what chance is there?"

Until a vaccine is found we are going to have to live and die with this virus, Thank you China for helping to sort out the pollution and overpopulation problem, as the saying goes, China may you live in interesting times

It's highly contagious but the mortality rate isn't desperately high in comparison to others ... and I wouldn't hold your breath on a vaccine Rog

It's highly contagious but the mortality rate isn't desperately high in comparison to others ... and I wouldn't hold your breath on a vaccine Rog I suppose it must be highly contagious, though despite this, the stats keep on a downward trend. I’ve been of the opinion for a few weeks that the virus is losing much of its fear factor. Like you say, a vaccine may be a while a way, so we need to crack on with living. Despite the doom and gloom merchants I don’t see people dropping left, right and centre. Boris needs to get his rear in gear and sort things out for a change.

It’s hardly the deadliest of threats around, is it? Probably not even in the top ten causes of death I’d wager.

I think Boris would more or less throw caution to the wind and remove lockdown, however parliament has a say so it will continue as it is in dribs and drabs. For us lets celebrate that we are all alive and seem to be doing ok
