Something to do with bridge building I reckon. Or railways. Bridge Building is close. If I told you I would have to blind you and lock you up, and go back into hiding. Bulgaria has a very important boundary. Hope my next destination will be better, not UK as its snowing I believe. Did the daft fox fetch it over with him? Hear he froze his water pump soon as he looked at it. Are you filling out your C.V. so you can apply for the job of completing the next phase of Trump's Wall after he is re-elected?

If I was in Sofia and had nothing better to do, I would walk around looking for angles to take photos from - night scenes on Manual? Timelapses? Or do a tour of all the pubs? Or catch a train somewhere & back.

Frying pans and fires, Escaped and posted to Vienna. And what happens? They have the first virus death as I got here. There is a bit of panic, mad bulk buying in the supermarkets.
I was told that I would return to the UK next week via Rome, that obviously went right out of the window. Nothing moving in Italy.
Still, Vienna is lovely, only if I don't get stuck here. Better than Bulgaria, but then maybe anything is.
The world seems to be going mad, looking like dad, Sam, won't be leaving the far east anytime soon, he has a flight soon via Manila and they are closing it completely on Sunday, land, sea and air. Hell's bells, what are we to do?

Its all gone tits up here. Austria was quite OK compared with many other places till yesterday. Now its border closures that are the biggest problem. Can't help thinking that here is an element of overreaction. The fly boys of the RAF will airlift us out tomorrow bless them, Just hoping its not a C130 again, god, they are noisy and cold.
Dad is in lockdown in Bacolod Philippines till April 14th at best, curfew, empty supermarkets, paranoia as elsewhere. Made a change for him to ask me for funds! " Son, can you help your old dad out with a few shekels?"
He can get his vital medications and the many in the same fix are occupying one hotel so if there is a change or the FO decide to get them out he is in the right place.

" Son, can you help your old dad out with a few shekels?" I trust that you helped him out ..... but meagerly, and accompanied by a long homily on the need for thrift

Both my parents deceased so at least that takes that worry away which is quite handy.
Kids have one grandparent left, in France, who is usually quite isolated other than visits from her own children so she should be okay hopefully.
It is quite a rude situation. Does look like over reaction but I think it's more that nobody really knows what to do.
Chinese seemed to get onto it very fast and very aggressively but reading about some of the things they implemented it would be unthinkable to do that in this country...
Or would it.

maybe not unthinkable ...... it all depends on the numbers. there are something like 50,000 deaths a month on average in the UK from all causes, if the numbers of those infected rises too quickly and gets into the realms of tens of millions infected at the same time, then proper treatment will not be possible for large numbers and the death rate will soar.

Some of the things they did in China are just horrific.
Going into people's homes and forceably removing suspected sufferers.
That's terrible BUT they seem to have controlled the situation very effectively.
Scary shit if anything even similar to that happens here.

I trust that you helped him out ..... but meagerly, and accompanied by a long homily on the need for thrift I asked for all his receipts, and if it was to be a gift or a loan as the interest rate on a loan is considerable higher than bank rate, more like Payday Loans rates. Not allowing expenditure on drink, drugs or women. Not serious, I owe him more than I could ever pay back and not just financially.

Some of the things they did in China are just horrific. I have highlighted the plight of the Uighurs here on TB, but no-one cared, and no-one still cares about them. Thousands put into concentration camps in China for 're-education' (torture) and forced labour (making Nike trainers that you buy for £95 in the high street). Huawei to install facial recognition cameras all over the UK and you think you're immune? Not to mention how the Chinese have invaded Tibet and committed attrocities there. I don't remember anyone sending their armies to Tibet to help the Tibetans out.

Beer is cheap there and the women, unless you're stupid and/or have two heads, free. Tell papa to go easy on the drugs though, it takes many shekels to pay off a police officer there, even if it's only a joint.

The world is ending and you give him a loan on condition he wastes it on food and rent etc.... At times like this, remember the wise words of George Best.................
