What a week of change! Dad will be on his way home this month, at last. No firm date yet. He will be on his own, established that last week. snip I will try to get dad to go back on a forum, he will not use CWDF under any circumstance. Glad it seems the problem is being sorted and he will be returning soon ...... He would be welcome here but he needs to accept that if someone thinks he has made a twattish remark, he will be called a twat. Most of us on here have received that accolade and there is nothing personal in it. It is a legacy of the Twatmaster General ...... Tomsk It was great to see he went from outcast to leaving a lasting legacy, I wonder how he is.

I'm on my knees praying, thankful to be back in the UK. We gave up on Beirut. Its a total disaster, blown apart, no working infrastructure, no port, airport frighteningly out of date with no security.
We tried to make things better for the population, secretly organised protest rallies. But the political situation is so bad that it is impossible to make any long term difference. I have been eating less and less for weeks, there is precious little fresh food, the shops are empty or closed, muggings for tins are common place, and most of those are out of date and rusty. Insurrection is imminent, hence we pulled out. Wasted loads of the UK Gov. cash, achieved damn all. Never again, it will not be better in my life time.
On a lighter note, dad failed to get a flight home, all Emirates A380 planes are still in mothballs with insufficient passengers to make it worth flying them. He could have got out to Thailand but the situation with the King is not good, more civil unrest very possible soon. And its just another place to be stranded because of the "Chinese Flu".
So he is still in the arms of his hotel cleaner companion who seems to be taking good care of them both. I had to pay off a lump of his bills, not too expensive thankfully. Next hassle will be his hugely out of date visa which could, hopefully, cause him to be deported. That would be a triumph. I am refusing to send him too much spending cash in case it gets misappropriated for nefarious pleasure purposes.
I am going to the best restaurant I can find open for a prolonged nosh up, I think I deserve it after living on stale bread, tinned fish and tomatoes for the last 6 weeks.

The people who are arses (ie. the Lebanese government) are those who didn't clear the explosives out of the warehouses YEARS AGO. "A cargo of 2,750 tonnes of the substance (equivalent to around 1.1 kilotons of TNT) had been stored in a warehouse without proper safety measures for the previous six years, after having been confiscated by the Lebanese authorities from the abandoned ship MV Rhosus." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_Beirut_explosion Why don't you write a letter of complaint to them?

You are a total and utter ARSE Ross I don't read NFox after the way he treated dad but if this is his idea of humour involving the poor people trapped in a destroyed Lebanon without power, water, food, sanitation or hope, with a "government" that is totally broken and corrupt then he is a really sick person.

Foxy has never paused to consider the impact of some of his words before he hits post.. there seems no empathy for the plight of others.
