Lets wait and see what the update says.
I'd sooner it was closed for preventative maintenance, than after a breach, wouldn't you ?

Never mind - according to a CRT stoppage notice on 24 Feb:
"....third party contractors will be onsite (sic) to carry out a detailed inspection of Bridge 1, Hurleston Bridge, on the Macclesfield Canal."

Let’s face it, anybody who actually moves about on their boat soon realises that the lack of preventative maintenance is one of the biggest issues on the waterways.

Not surprising, really, in view of all this rain. It's always a bit unstable through there at the best of times.

Sorry I didn't respond ... went out into town for some (extremely wet) fresh air. But metanoia is correct (as always) trees down and unstable banks. The problem is that it's impossible to guage the seriousness from the notification ... sometimes UFN is a few days, and sometimes it can be a few months. Rog
