I received an alert notifying us that the Audlem locks will reopen today at 11am.
However I have not seen anything regarding Woodseaves cutting and the fallen trees/land slips.
I've sent an enquiry to C&RT but won't be holding my breathe for a reply.
Anyone heard any kind of update/rumours ?
Rog

Rog Look forward to that reply, Rog - especially as I don't receive stoppage notices any longer...… I thought there was to be an update on Woodseaves once their "geophysicists" had assessed the situation - whatever happened to a man with a chainsaw and his mate with a shovel?!! Apparently Betton Wood is full of fallen trees, too - not likely to be cleared until next week - but Adderley should be open tomorrow, Barbridge navigation is open (though the towpath was still closed yesterday) and loads of earth was being piled back in (as opposed to being removed) at Hurleston bottom lock so hopefully that's on schedule.

Just received a notification about bridge 66 at Betton Wood. It's still closed there but updates should be available in the next few days. I wonder if it's the same contractor who'll do Woodseaves. Trina may hear some news around the marina. Rog

"The canal system around Market Drayton is home to two ghoulish residents, a shrieking spectre that causes boatmen to rush through Betton Cutting, and a friendly ghost at Tyrley middle lock who closes the lock gates behind night-time boaters." Rufty-tufty boatmen, eh? Pathetic. I went through Betton Cutting on my own at dusk was falling and left a trail of thick blue smoke all the way through. Take that, Shrieking Spectre!!

No, it was coal smoke from the chimney. Christmas Eve 2018. It is a bit creepy going through those deep cutting on your own, but I have an axe so any poxy ghost is gonna get it, especially if they do a bit of shrieking to scare me.

Just had an email from C&RT (Charlotte) to inform me that she has no stoppages listed for Woodseaves, so that stretch must be all clear. Seems slightly odd but I assume Charlotte has her finger on the pulse, as it were Rog

Great news for loads of people if it's all clear so soon. Well done on sorting that one, Rog x

We've had no messages about Woodseaves but that means bu**er all.No idea whether it's open or not ! So far,our little trips out before our bigger trips out(3 weeks easter,2 weeks in May & 16 weeks summer) have been somewhat curtailed. We had a nice 10 days out before Christmas but our routes since then have been bu**ered.
