Have finally worked out that the problem was in Tyrley cutting rather than Woodseaves. Trees had to be moved but there was concern about possible landslip if they did. Charlotte is confident that navigation is now all clear, and who could possibly doubt her Rog

I have just received a new stoppage alert for Tyrley cutting which says it is closed ... definitely closed ... and there will be further updates next week.
Left hand ... right hand !

I understand the issues with so many trees down over the last week to ten days ... but surely any manager worth the title would identify the need to keep on top of the issue and ensure upto date information is circulated and available ... if only to their own bloomin' staff !

Not been through yet this year, but I wouldn't be surprised to see similar problems on the Shroppie on the approaches to Brewood and Wheaton Aston with some very precarious trees in the cuttings. Between Stretton and Wheaton Aston there was a landslip some 15 years ago that was only dealt with by persistent navigation, and if 2 boats meet at the point, the one on the offside has a very scary moment. Likewise between Avenue Bridge and Hyde Mill Lane, the offside bank has disappeared, with the piling collapsed into the canal, but that has at least been marked with a 'Keep Right' blue arrow road sign.

Rog Thanks for the update, Rog. Glad to hear you haven't got to turn back. Enjoy Gnosall - don't forget to check out the new launderette and hope you have an interesting shop in "The Old Bakery" (loads of cakes!!!).

Can you confirm it is pronounced with the G?
Gnosall, like Going.
This is what I was told years ago when visiting the area by boat and the whole Brewood/Brood situation but never been sure about Gnosall.
It seems to be more natural to just say "noze-all' but was told it was "Gnoze-all".
