Not panic level yet, but my bank appears to be preventing me moving my money around. On hold for 25 mins so far. I've got too much in one place and the economic situation looks well dodgy.

I was in the motor trade for a while, worked for D.C Cook and had to go and collect "new" cars from a huge ex army site near Sheffield. A mob of us would go with a battery, jump leads and cans of petrol. We would present the docs at the gate house and get keys and directions to the cars location. There were thousands of cars parked out greased up and we would pull them out and open the bonnet to pull all the bind weed etc out from around the engine . We would then race them back to Lincoln, last one back bought the beer!! So a customer would get his "new" car which had been sitting in a field for two years. Phil

Cancel that, I got through and apparently I'm not the only one worried about banking collapse realising they are over the gov £85k in one place. Took 30 mins to get through - usually they would ring me so they must be busy in the security office.

I suspect some 'haircuts' might be in the offing, regardless of any current government guarantee. We're having a national emergency, we're all in this together, right?

Remember the scene from the film Schindler's List when the Jewish family father gets his penknife out and digs that little bar of gold out of the door frame into which he has had it hidden? Saying this will be of more use in the concentration camp than ordinary cash.

I thought it was a little bar of gold. (edit: gotcha - 0:34 - he wouldn't have dug gold out with a German watching him, and you're right, not a word - clip below) Anyway, the Finnish Prime Minister is on the gogglebox at the moment saying this is going to be an extremely serious economic situation - calls are being made for debts to be deferred - people need to pay their rents and loans. Although I could just be imagining it as 'life goes on as normal' in Sleepy Shropshire. I can't see my next payslip as being 'normal'. Perhaps dogless would like to make up the difference?

I think MM has been to my local Tesco and Sainsburys - no beer whatsoever! Not to mention the rest of the empty shelves including frozen food and fresh milk.
About 30 boats heading out of London today, only one in the other direction. Visitor moorings empty. Have I missed out on some news............

CRT recently reminded me I need a new BSC in a couple of months time.
I don't want a travelling inspector on board, even if I could find a willing one in the near future. I've asked CRT what to do. Stand by for a reply...eventually.

"Lady Eliza Manners posted this Instagram story of her cooking for her family as she has also returned home from London" "Lady Eliza Manners and Lady Violet Manners (pictured with their sister Lady Alice Manners in June 2019) appear have returned home to their Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire, from their London flats" The wealthy 'ladies' are leaving the peasants and serfs to die in London. If anyone wants some tasty pasta, then head for Belvoir Castle! I'm sure Lady Manners would invite you in. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8130325/The-super-rich-flee-London-escape-coronavirus.html
