CRT recently reminded me I need a new BSC in a couple of months time. I don't want a travelling inspector on board, even if I could find a willing one in the near future. I've asked CRT what to do. Stand by for a reply...eventually. As a tradesman in heating service, I would remind you that we also have 'feet to put boots on'. In a time of need, I bet you would not freeze or sit in the dark to avoid a travelling engineer. Likewise, when contacted, I ask for the usual guarantees about health and travel, and hope that I'm told the truth. But then again, it must be difficult to pass up on an opportunity to hassle CaRT and be a P.I.T.A.

Worked through two locks with quite serious problems this morning - joked with the shareboater coming the other way (after much shuffling and asking permission to share her space to help push the difficult lockgate) that they truly are appalling - but how CAN you complain with all else that's going on .........… ??!!ll

Hassle CRT? Twat! There is nothing I don't fix myself, which is as just as well because I can't afford to pay labour anyway! I don't own a house, but when I did I did all the work there too. And I spent a year building my camper from rust and did everything on that too from the welding to the curtains. Though to be totally honest I did pay a few quid to a heroic plumber who lives on the marina to re-solder some joints for me. I could have done it myself but I was getting fed up. My point here though is that I'd rather not either give or get this virus to/from anyone. I can control this largely so why should I be forced to have a stranger on my boat? I don't know where he's been in the previous few days and nobody seems to know if it's infectious before it shows symptoms. I do not want this chink in my armour. I'll just maintain a conversation with CRT and see where we are in a month or two.

Apparently oil is heading towards a negative value.
Buy oil
If you have somewhere to store it It seems the black gold is out of favour.
Sell the gold and buy oil.

No need to store it, you can buy futures. They carry a premium but a 2 year one at around +20% above the spot price seems pretty good value to me. Unfortunately you have to buy in Dollars, an expensive buy now.

ETA. Also watching all Mad Max films for hints & tips on how to survive come the day. Youngest son is 'educating' me regarding films...not yet got to Mad Max(never seen them) but in the last few days I've had to sit through Happy Gilmore, The Big Lewoski(or summit like that) and Rambo 1.... I knew there was a reason I didn't bother first time round...so many films I've never seen, if he has to return here post his course I'll be isolating in my room....

Mad Max will forever hold great memories for me. Watched it when I was camping in Great Yarmouth, back when I was 17 years old. Came out the cinema, jumped on my GS750 Suzuki and rode away feeling well hard. Was the same week I saw my first strip show, and spent 3 wonderful nights with a lady I pulled in a local rock disco. Think it was called Wheels? Something like a pound to enter, this included a sausage with chips. From memory the whole week made me feel young and infallible, also hard for many reasons 😀.
