I think CRT are an utter disaster. Obviously most already know I think this way, but seriously, some of their staff are complete twats. Pathetic attempt at a statement. Diabolical service and product, and to top it all, they are now suffering a shortage of money. Evidently the lack of lockies this year is down to having no funds. However, they will still be looking to renew their company cars, spend their luncheon vouchers in m&s, sponsor some diwali celebrations and the gay pride parades. Who needs lockies anyway.
I much prefer canals without lock assistants. Specially on flights of locks. In the past when I did a lot of canal boating I used to really enjoy the process of getting the boat down or up a hill by myself efficiently. Having help was always a bit of a nuisance really but then luckily we didn't have these volunteers in those days.
On the Thames it's different as the keeper is part of the whole scene, lockside gardens etc but the recent tendency to have people helping at locks on the cut is something I dislike.
But then it doesn't matter much as I won't be doing canal boating in future anyway

That's why they're doing it ... I told them you'd finished with cruising canals @someboater and were a full time 'river boy' now, so they're putting volunteer lockies out everywhere to piss Telemachus off.
Obviously they wouldn't wish to upset a member of the secret service
loddon: Thanks for the confirmation, I am thinking of changing tablets because of the cough but maybe I wont

JohnV: There are other drugs but I haven't found the side effects with Ramipril to be bad, it seems to just make my throat a bit more sensitive so things that might have just tickled my throat and make me want to clear it now make me cough.

loddon: The cough is the only one I get from ramipril, although the combinatins of drugs I am on has interesting effects.
