If it became necessary to do social distancing what would people do?
I actually quite like having an incredibly basic life without too much agro so it would suit me nicely but a lot of people thrive on having a lot to do.
So would it cause problems or would people just be able to sit at home, munch through their personal pasta and tinned mackerel mountain and watch sports?
Or would it get nasty.
I think with the obvious facebook infestation problem it could be quite problematic quite quickly.

Doh !
Medical advice is to regularly and thoroughly wash hands for 20 secs (which is equated to the length of time it takes to sing Happy Birthday).
You're not very well read on the FACTS of the virus are you.

Who are you referring to? I'm sure at least 18.7% of those on this forum are under 70 Plus being old like that must surely make running away a considerably more hazardous, arduous and challenging activity. I think you have it all wrong.

I was talking to my cousin (late 80's)) and we were discussing "social distancing" I said I wasn't going to go to the pub every night, the Weatherspoons for breakfasts every day, wasn't going shopping as much as possible and was going to give up visiting raves, darts matches, theaters and cinemas ....... in other words life was going to go on much the same as normal. He was saying that when he goes out on one of his motorbikes for a run over the moors he is going to have to give up his visits to tea rooms for a "sinful bit of cake" and a cuppa In all seriousness, although I don't spend a great deal of time in the company of other people, I suppose I will have to think carefully about who I do have contact with as most of them are in the "high risk" category

"Britain's over-70s will be told to self-isolate for four months in a 'wartime-style' clampdown by the government to stop the spread of coronavirus. This blanket quarantining of the elderly will be enforced in the next 20 days as Boris Johnson ratchets up efforts to tackle the UK's outbreak, a source revealed. The drastic measure is wrapped into a wider package of emergency powers due to be announced by Downing Street next week." Run away! Run away! Run away! They are coming to get you now! The pc brigade will be enraged by this ageist policy.

We have been self isolating for a week now. Shopping now all by internet, delivered to the door we collct it after the drivers gone disinfecting prior to touching it. Absolute minimum contact with other humans, video calling relatives rather than visiting, etc etc. I am loving it as I am not a social person, C however is hating it. Luckily we live down a long cul de sac so no passing traffic or people, thinking of putting hazard tape across the entrance to the drive to deter casual visitors. I can't dig a moat as we are on a hill so the water would run away.

For the over 70s, 4 months self imposed quarantine soon. Will a mobile, floating containment comply? Just thinking.

Yes that's interesting if you live on a boat how would they be able to enforce it? Would you be ordered to remain in the same place and if so would you get time to move to your preferred location before isolating?
Obviously a tiny proportion of the population but it does seem intriguing that there are claims it will somehow be "enforced".

I can't see how it could be enforced but moving out in the county side will be minimal risk. It will be quiet too I think. I'm OK age wise and its OK in Austria at present, I will be finished here soon though and returning to UK, I hope! I'm thinking about dad. He has been out east travelling for some time. Now there are difficulties with flights, ferries are stopping and some land transport is restricted. There are no go areas. He was exiting via Manila but not now, its in lock down and closed. Silly really, they have only 11 dead and 60 odd confirmed in the Philippines but I suppose discretion is the better part of valour or some such.
