Went to Aldi yesterday for my parents, they haven't been out for 2 weeks now. One in one out, sensible number of people inside the shop. Queue outside full length of car park and half way back but only 20 minutes waiting. Enough to put some off, which is good. Inside the shop almost everything back in stock now, only the pasta and rice area seemed bare. They've installed plastic screens around the checkouts for their staff. These are dirty and scratched already, can't see them lasting long. Overall, well done Aldi for the idea to ration the people, as well as the goods.

I went to Tesco this morning. There's a bit of price gouging going on at the local continental grocers so I thought best to see what the panic is all about.
I got there at 6am, when the place officially opened. Queue a mile long, but everybody mostly good-mannered. It took about 30 mins to get inside, all calm but I did cross paths with one old git who was scowling at everyone. He was the only one though. Plenty of food on the shelves, although there were some holes. However plenty of eggs and pasta! Apparently someone kicked off yesterday but the extra security (nightclub bouncers by the look of them) invited him to leave. Too bad I missed it.
I am left wondering what it will all look like in two weeks, that should be near the peak I imagine.

My feeling is that the worst of the panic buying is over now.
What's needed now is a power cut for a couple of days. The selfish fuckers who loaded up extra freezers will then get their medicine. Collatoral damage for others of course, but a bigger loss for the moron hoarders. A nice dose of justice.

No power cuts thank you Ricco ! We always have a well stocked freezer as we buy up reduced meat etc in normal times. We have NOT bought extra stuff for it at the moment, but a power cut would deplete our planned meals. Not all people with freezers are selfish gits you know ! *Don't see why we should suffer just because of the hoarders, especially as we are using our old stock to save new stock for others.

Staff in Tesco on Wednesday told us that one customer threw his shopping at a cashier and called the staff twats. Apparently not the worst they have encountered lately, I think he was stopped from buying more than the stipulated amount of something. I hope Karma was watching carefully.

I also think the food panic is more-or-less done, but the actual crisis hasn't really started yet. This is the often-mentioned calm before the storm.

This is where the good British public need to step in. The vast majority abhor knobheads such as this bloke. We need to challenge this, don't be scared of the twat, there will be dozens behind you if you challenge him.

I know Trina it was partly tongue in cheek, I do like to see justice done though. You're right, too many honest decent people would be affected as well.
