We had new neighbours in the rented house next door in Feb'.The two children are 3 & 5,so you can imagine what they're like being cooped up poor chicks. There is a decent size garden but they aren't using it,even though the dad cut the grass on Monday when P did ours.Mum was a teacher back in Iraq,so I'm hoping she might start to give them some quiet 'work' each day as well as playtime( who knew how loud wooden floors could be ?)Not going to offer my teaching services as I don't have any teaching stuff left & the children don't really know me.I feel sorry for them all as it must be hard for mum & dad as well.Have to admit,I'm just not used to so much noise having had quiet neighbours,so am plugging myself into my old Ipod to keep myself sane !π

@gazza ... are you sure this is the right forum for you ... all that positivity and looking on the bright side ... Your little one's going to look back on this period as 'golden days' spent with her old Dad ... good on you pal Rog Thanks Rog ππ» I think it's all you can do TBH - the hand ringing and doom and gloom merchants aren't exactly helping the situation!

I've been told my marking isn't very good, no ticks or crosses allowed, no circling of errors. Underlining in the correct colour pen is allowed, I shouldn't write so much in my explanation apparently! that is more for the benefit of her teachers when we finally get the chance to submit the work done while school is shut. Nanny has a fair amount of teaching resources left over should we shut up shop her and I have no access to a printer! It must be hard if resources are limited.

The hand wringing doom and gloom was needed. There was some denial occurring. The ones who a week or ten days ago were urging seriousness have been proved right. Everybody has caught up now so... the doom and gloom has tailed off. Correct? As you were.

my daughter letting grand daughter decide on the topics.. lovely artwork shared yesterday and I shared my little project....a collage of my trip away...Part 1.. What I find tad difficult is that very few people say hello..they all scurry past as if we r all plague carriers. However I call out Good Morning to everyone..and of course special hellos to the dogs who don't do social distancing....

My brother in law (works for South Yorks Ambulance Service) was stopped by the police on his way home from work today.
Being alone in his car they wondered what was the purpose of his journey.
Very apologetic and supportive once they realised.
Clearly people are now being challenged regarding their travels.

Paul was half expecting to get challenged a couple of days ago when he went into Brum to donate his A negative blood platelets.Think he was a bit disappointed not to be stopped !

Maybe wrong topic but anyway. Our usual choice for takeaway is about 15 minutes drive away, they donβt deliver. We have others closer, some that deliver. Would it be wrong for us to stick to our usual source?

He should have said "I wanted to find out what it was like to live in the Soviet Union when Stalin was in charge".

Would it be wrong for us to stick to our usual source? Ordering food, then one going to collect and pay, by car ... can't see where there would be a problem of contact for others. No different to going to buy food to prepare yourself ... although it does cross my mind that you must have great faith in your chosen suppliers virus free status Rog

I trust the food supplier, as much as I trust most things at the moment. I just wonder if I should really use the nearest available takeaway? Guess itβs like choosing the nearest supermarket, or go further to your favourite? Or supermarket steaks , rather than drive twice as far to a butchers? What would the police say? So many questions.

Why has there been no cry to "shout out for the shop staff" too? They're right in the front line too - working harder than ever, suffering more abuse than normal and keeping us all fed.
They need our thanks and support right now.

I thought the Thursday applause thing was for NHS staff, Carers, and all key workers.

If the police stop me the conversation might go something like this:
Sir, why are you travelling 5 miles to Aldi to buy your food when there's a Co-op less than a mile away?
Because I can't afford to buy food from Co-op. I now have no income due to the government encouraging people, who have given lots of money by the state, to not pay their rents. I myself cannot get any money at all off the government. So unless you suggest that I start to engage in criminal behaviour in order that I can afford Co-op's prices I shall continue to shop at Aldi, in the hope that the virus abates before my money runs out. Goodbye, have a nice day.
