I hope we'll all be a little kinder ... appreciate more the benefits of modern life and how fragile they can be ... be a little more considerate and understanding of our 'fellow passengers to the grave' ... Rog Well not if our trip to ASDA yesterday is anything to go by. They had a queuing system to limit the number of people in the shop, which was eminently sensible. When we joined the queue there were perhaps 6 people in front and it took us about 2 mins to get inside. Nevertheless the guy who joined the queue 5 seconds before us, having waited another 5 seconds, stormed off shouting “I’m not waiting in a fucking queue to get into Asda.” There was a very polite black guy (bearing in mind black guys are rare in Aberdeen) on the door, not the big bruiser type but a slight African obviously not born in UK, and very well mannered although looking slightly scared. I smiled sweetly as he let us in. On the way out there was a commotion the cause of which I missed but apparently another angry gammon waiting to get in had rammed his trolley into the guy and sent him sprawling across the floor, before running off. I would imagine the African guy probably wants to go back to Africa now, where people know how to behave. Still, maybe these sorts of permanently angry people will be the majority victims of the virus, so some consolation.

Seems probable yes. As Mr Stabby mentioned a while ago the time to bulk buy is the point where supermarkets have corrected to meet demand which is no longer there. This creates a situation where they are likely to do discounts for larger quantities. Good theory. Of course this theory falls down if the continued view is that there is a chance of total breakdown of society leading to food supply problems. I suppose it's in the hands of awful scum like the facebook mob who get profit from winding people up as much as possible. Interesting to see if anyone takes "Social Media" seriously and discusses the potential for it (SM) to fuck the situation up quite massively. Perhaps discussion about Social Media Distancing could take place in the corridors of power and switch off some of the more dangerous shit.

In times of crisis people show their true colours My woman has been shopping in Waitrose when for the last 10 years Lidl has been a firm favourite. I have occasionally interacted with Asda in 27 years of being an adult but it never filled me with much confidence. Possibly their social distancing home delivery service could be come useful but the Walmart model is not something I celebrate.

Patty its warm in Italy, Spain, Australia and it not going away there so I hold out no hope for this Chinese made virus going away any time soon Peter are you suggesting that this virus was deliberately planted by the Chinese and allowed to spread to the extent that it was guaranteed that it would spread around the world, the Chinese knowing that they could contain it after that while it would run amok in more liberal countries, straddling the rest of the world with huge debts, financed by the Chinese, secured on the assets of these other countries, enabling China to complete their world financial domination in double quick time? Or is that a conspiracy theory too far. I think you have accurately described what the Chinese are capable of, after all in the most it killed a lot of older non productive people and also the ill ones, the figures given out by the Chinese on deaths were just plucked out of the air [now proven by other countries much higher death rate] and of course a total lockdown for them was very easy in comparison the rest of the world! In the end we will have to see what we are left with in the way of a functioning country but I think Riccos description looked fairly accurate, I cant see us flying cheaply again any time soon and will the car makers survive? who knows, but it will possibly be a very different world

Always worth specifically mentioning the lack of stockpiled food Zombies are clever buggers. People tend to think of zombies as some sort of mutant thing. They may have the physical appearance of being low IQ but I suspect they are members of mensa. Watch this space. And don't mention the pasta!!

You might find the Chinese already financially dominate the world. Pretty stupid to destroy the economies of their customers?

Anyway my favourite song for the last year. I was listening to this well before this global meltdown shit. I just think it's really good clairvoyant stuff.

Has anyone noticed the number of very rich people who cashed in stocks and shares just prior the coronavirus turning into a global pandemic. It seems that once this is over the richest part of society will be able to sweep up some good bargains on the various stock exchanges around the world.

Hugh loan? Maybe that’s why the a Bank of England recently reduced the base rate - one way of reducing your interest payments.

I quite like "wrong turn" for the zombies.
This social distancing and self isolation thing has the potential to be incredibly bad shit. It will expose the inequalities in society and hammer home the message about housing.
Definitely a case of short term pain for long term gain.
One just hopes that it helps make things better because the existing situation is a can of worms that definitely needed opening.
