I keep reading the title of the thread and thinking "yes it's ok the postman is still doing his rounds it's not the end of the world". One does wonder though if all the postmen (and women) suddenly felt a little under the weather and self isolated it could create some issues around delivery effectiveness. We maybe about to have simular delivery issues. A large part of the team at work have been told they are not allowed to car share. Most of them will not be able to get to work now. They are having problems with tug crews in the same way. One company I know about only a couple of the crew have their own transport and they are both in a vulnerable age group (one late 60's one 70's) and they normally pick up their crew and travel together it shouldn't happen and yet tugs are critical for port operations ...... another tug operation I know of has two crew on a small workboat/tug they fortunately live in the same houshold and can travel and work together ...... it can be a real worry

Surely the social distancing regulations would be relaxed in this sort of situation.
If they are offering to school the children of key workers then there must be some sort of mechanism to bypass the social distancing regs for key workers whether or not they are parents.
One would hope that the regulations have been thought through properly otherwise you could be looking at quite a serious problem happening very quickly.
Nasty. I hope this does not happen.

It's not the regulations they are concerned about, it's more the actual health risk to the elderly skippers

Hopefully because I just spent 3 hours working in the chiller and its blooming cold. Were being told to keep 2 metres apart at work but whilst actually working its physical impossible. I think the travel thing they are more worried if they get pulled by the old bill. I think they are trying to be a responsible employer. I hope they work something because it appears none of them are at work.

I can't post it but Thunderboat becomes Britain's premier boating forum after Canal World Destruction Forum's melt down Some over there have completely lost the plot I see. This thread prompted me to pop over and have a read. Very depressing, almost end of the civilised world stuff. Thankfully I chat regularly with my 20 something year old kids and their mates. They are generally playing their part in sorting out this mess. They are also looking forward to getting back to normal. They see this as a blip. They talk of partying and holidays after it all. We will recover and the world will change little.
