I just passed a cyclist sitting on the bench outside the closed marina office. He was on the phone telling someone he'd cycled from a to b to c (about 20 miles) and was disgusted to see so many are people out and about with no reason. He was even complaining about a solitary bloke in Hi vis cutting the grass on the canal as non-essential behaviour. I suggested he was part of the problem, wasn't welcome and should fuck off home pronto. He was still on the phone so I carried on explaining where he was, how many sick oldies live here, what he was doing and how unwelcome he was. Would he want some strangers sunning themselves in his garden? or the local OAP home garden? There were more than a few sweary words in my ranting etc etc. He left. Good riddance. I bet he's typical, out and about covering lots of ground for no reason and tut-tutting everyone else. Muppet. Time to look in the mirror. Rant over.

We not only have cyclists using the cafe benches to rest and meet, but also using the marina loos! Presumably given the door code by friends.
Not enough people are taking this virus seriously.

Didn't have phone, I don't take it out of the boat, I might contaminate it. On that subject, while the medics say you can catch it from "things" I believe that people breathing, spluttering, even just talking are many many times as dangerous, you really don't know where they've been or how they've been behaving or whether they've got it. I might have it, who knows? In the past, working on my own in my summerhouse for 15 years, I never caught anything from the kids and never caught anything from the ex - er - we didn't get on. Meanwhile she and they got everything from school or from working with spitty biting mentally challenged types. I really do believe social distancing is pretty effective...and it's the only weapon we have.

What did anyone expect? Next it'll be looting - starting in South London you can bet. I read that loans for buying houses are not now being given, and house buying ground to a halt. Meanwhile, planes arriving into Heathrow all the time, and also Finnish holidaymakers in Spain heading back to Finland - we don't want 'em! I expect the wealthy in the Cotswolds are polishing their blunderbusses.

Need to move the boat for diesel/water/elsan/rubbish this afternoon - wonder how many people will tell me to fuck off. Unless you are sure of the circumstances please by careful about your reaction...

Agree... but... you have seen the photos of the 'essential workers' all stuffed into Underground trains in London. And my sneezing videos? Viruses can be carried in dry air, but someone sneezing and spraying your face in thousands of tiny drops of mucus is another way to transmit it. In the forest now... firewood again... no other humans nearby.

It's a difficult one. What's really needed is common sense i.e. keep a distance from others and don't touch anything others could touch or could have touched. That's it. Unfortunately many people lack common sense. So, laws have to be made. Sometimes they are literal e.g. shops must close but other times they are open to interpretation. Currently the 'you can exercise once a day' allows people with no common sense to do things that will ensure this disease spreads further, and quicker. I predict that by next Monday exercising outside will be illegal. Even my kayaking, when I'm always at least 20 feet away from others, only ever touch my paddle and water bottle, which nobody else touches, won't be allowed. This is a pity, I do it every day and can't imagine a life without exercise. There are far too many selfish morons in this country. I've no idea where they've come from, most people used to be decent and responsible, not now though.

in my experience people who identify as 'cyclists' (as opposed to folk who use a bike to get around) are self-righteous pricks who believe that their low-emissions organic carbon-free lifestyle choices render them immune from criticisms aimed at other more ordinary folk.

the only people who are to blame for proximity of passengers on the tube are the folk who decide that there is less demand and therefore decide to reduce the frequency of services, which is apparently what has happened.
what would foxxy do if he had to get to essential work on time, possibly to relieve another essential worker on shift, and every train that arrives at the station is half full? walk?
tube trains are always 'stuffed' at peak times - the recent photos show the carriages about 30% full. 2 metres is impossible, but at least in the latest photos they are not breathing over each others' shoulders, which is the norm under normal conditions.
the best suggestion I have heard is that London cabs should prioritise nurses and medical staff and the government should subsidise them so it is affordable.

Meanwhile in order to help stem the tide somehow that just escapes me...
The foreign secretary, Dominic Raab said the million or so British people on holiday or working abroad should return home now – before the option to do so disappears altogether.
The message here is "think of yourself, fuck everyone else"? Great, a million people get on planes and share recycled air for hours then disperse around the UK. That should keep it in check.

Interesting that the PM said he will "come down like a ton of bricks" on criminals. That would be good. Make an example of a few people by imposing life sentences for mugging a granny for example. Get the vermin cleared. Nobody needs to mug a granny, it should not be allowed. I think at some point he needs to be a bit more explicit about the potential for a crimewave, more explicit than the ton of bricks comparison.
