.... only old people will die be careful what you say ...... it depends on whose definition of old ....... you are in that classification according to the yoof. If anywhere gets totally swamped by corvid 19 I think you will find that picture will change somewhat I'm not pointing my finger at you John - I think you know what I mean about the 'shot across the bows'. Wipe off some of a country's population as a warning. I think I regard as 'old' as over 65 and over 85 as 'the point of no return'. I've still got 5.5 years to go before I'm 'old'

My spies on the ground there are sounding extremely worried about how quickly they got to where they are.

"N.Y.C. Death Toll Passes 1,000 as Mayor Pleads for More Help The number of coronavirus cases in New York State topped 75,000." How about asking help from China? I'm sure they will be pleased to give it - at TEN TIMES the normal price. www.nytimes.com/2020/03/31/nyregion/coronavirus-new-york-update.html?action=click&module=Spotlight&pgtype=HomepageMore updates from Tuesday: The daily number of new deaths in New York State has increased 31 percent a day on average for the past week, and the death toll has tripled in four days. The statewide number of confirmed cases increased by 9,298, to 75,795. The number of patients hospitalized passed 10,900, up 15 percent from Monday. Of those, 2,710 were in intensive care rooms with ventilators. Four in 10 New York tenants may not pay April rent. What then? “It’s gotten to this point where I really cannot pay rent because doing so would jeopardize my ability to buy food or basically survive,” said Henry True, 24, a musician and freelancer who pays $600 a month for a bedroom in a shared apartment in Brooklyn. No one knows for sure how many renters in New York City will have a hard time paying, but landlords and the real estate industry say they are bracing for perhaps as many 40 percent of tenants, if not more, skipping their April payments.

"China chases Indonesia's fishing fleets, staking claim to sea's riches. The Indonesian government appears to have backed away from confronting China, its largest trading partner. "Our fishermen feel scared," one official said. Backed by armed Chinese Coast Guard ships, Chinese fishing fleets have been raiding the rich waters of the South China Sea that are internationally recognized as exclusively Indonesia’s to fish. with the Chinese presence growing more aggressive, fishers in the Natunas are feeling vulnerable. The latest episode occurred in February, fishers said, when Chinese fishing boats flanked by Chinese Coast Guard vessels dropped their trawl nets yet again. It seemed as if the coronavirus outbreak peaking in China at the time hadn’t diminished the country’s global ambitions. When President Joko Widodo of Indonesia visited the Natunas he said: “There is no bargaining when it comes to our sovereignty,”. Earlier, Indonesian fighter jets buzzed the sky, while Indonesian warships patrolled the seas. But the day after Mr. Joko left the Natunas, the Chinese showed up again. Its fishing fleet, backed by the Chinese Coast Guard, took days to leave the area, local officials and fishers said. www.nytimes.com/2020/03/31/world/asia/Indonesia-south-china-sea-fishing.html?action=click&module=News&pgtype=Homepage

disputes like that go on all over the world, nothing to do with world domination or COVID.
perhaps you aren't old enough to remember the Icelandic Fishing War. ................ no, the UK was not conspiring to dominate the world, or even the North Atlantic fishing grounds.

China has been buying up Africa if you hadn't heard. You're laughing now, but Badger-Chow-Mein is another one they're not fussy about shoving down their gullets. Although, as you say, you are old and probably a bit gristly.

Maybe the majority are elderly or with underlying illness BUT there will always be tragic loss of others before their time.

I am firmly in the China did it corner, they had a little practice on their own population to ovoid the general public all pointing and saying China did it they then sent out the infected people all over the world to spread the virus. What do they have to gain? simple oil price crashed they bought plenty, worldwide companies are going to the wall China is dollar rich it will buy them. China is nearly free of the virus of course, it is they had the vaccine all along, but only used it on the workers the old and infirm were let to die. Chines factories are now back up to production and selling protective equipment testing stuff and all the things needed to fight the virus win win for them. As a plus for them the Hong Kong problem has gone away and no doubt the leaders etc will have been taken by the virus! At the end the Chinese will economically rule the world, lots of airlines/aircraft makers will have gone bankrupt so global travel will be cut back and China will no doubt buy or destroy media/social media so that we dont realise we have been taken over by a something far worse than the EU

Sell Tesla buy Nio?
Or to put it another way "Nio buys Tesla".
Interesting to watch the progress of the disease on US soil.
