I’m sure they would all prefer sufficient ppe and maybe a pay rise. To around of applause.

I read this earlier. Interesting. This whole mess just gets more confusing by the hour. I’m keeping my thoughts to myself as much as possible. I know this is a forum, and yes, I know what forums are for. However it’s very easy to offend at the moment, after all we all have different values, some of us health issues. Some just happy to go with the flow, accepting that if your times up then off you pop. Then there are people’s families, their friends, pets even. I’ve seen what is happening on the other side, it ain’t nice. I hope we here can maybe think a little before we post. After all, this is a bit more than which loo is the smelliest.

Wimbledon has been cancelled . Including the ladies. This must come as a major disappointment. I'm feeling ambivalent about this. Here you go...

Intersting subject tinitus, I get it having been on the road for 30 years. However either my tinitus is odd or I am, when it starts its there for about a minute and then its as if my brain switches in a notch filter and it just gets quieter until it dissappears, no noticable difference in the frequencys my ears are hearing. You rang my lord. Yes, most people begin to realise over time that they haven't noticed it for a while and build confidence in that. It's basically the brain rewiring itself over time. Any mental or physical stress can make the tinnitus worse. Some people (especially with OCD tendencies) tend to over focus on it such that it becomes like a feedback loop. Then they go into a fight or flight mode which causes heightened hearing sensitivity! This is where it can become life threatening, yes some people have taken their own lives (I wasn't far away from that). Tinnitus is actually a normal symptom when exposed to a loud noise. It's just that sometimes it can become permanent. I always wear musicians ear plugs now. I clean their wax off first though.... Never had it badly just an occasional tone somewhere about 2-3k as described above maybe twice a year or so. Ear plugs didnt really feature until the last couple of years before I finished. Monsters of Rock 1988 got through the full day no bother at all, despite it being the largest PA system ever assembled. Fireworks were launched from behind stage right PA wing where I was, after they finished couldnt hear for a day or so......... That was probably the most damage in one short period I now wear hearing aids, bigest advantage is I can control them from my phone and turn them off when I dont want to listen to someone

It was a shame that 2 members of the audience lost their lives in the crush at the front.

After all, this is a bit more than which loo is the smelliest. My vote would go for the Sealand dump-through type with an inadequately sized tank vent. Talk about trauma! I never had one on any of my boats but I knew someone who did.

I know it sounds a bit odd but does there come a point in a medical workers life when they start to look after their own wellbeing rather than caring for others? I would have thought survival instinct would kick in at some point or are we talking about people who have a completely selfless devotion to the care of others? In my experience, many (but by no means all) people who are attracted to working in the care industry are uncaring to the point of being heartless and cruel, in the same way that dirty people seem to gravitate towards working in the food industry. Having worked in the caring industry right up until I collapsed I don't subscribe to that.. You care so much u cannot let go. I worked 2 years without a holiday in the bad old days of appalling staff numbers, couldn't leave my patients to agency staff. A lot of nights would work through my break. I was not alone, there was a core of us who just wanted to care for people. There were occasions when our personal safety at risk because of the nature of some of the clients but we still went in. You get drawn into a world of ill health and that becomes the only thing that matters. I wouldn't go back in because i know I'm not that woman anymore, I would be a liability as I would not cope with the modern day NHS....I want to very badly but have to accept that what happened to me finished my career.

I think that dirty and/or uncaring people don’t interview well, or failed to get any/many qualifications, which means they end up in the low paid jobs with low social standing, this then does nothing to encourage better performance or attitudes. I am NOT saying all food workers don’t care etc, just that those that don’t care or are basically unpleasant people end up in those jobs, these are the ones that ‘look best’ in secret camera documentaries.

If you have a phone contract and you can't use your phone because the service crashes 'due to staff shortages resulting from the corona virus' you wouldn't expect to continue to pay for the 'service' month after month. Are we in agreement? Councils up and down the country are sending their staff home on full pay and cutting services. My local council has closed the tips (lack of staff) and you can't contact the authority at all unless it's regarding 'vulnerable adults or children'. I've been waiting for a credit note to appear in the post for a proportion of council tax. If you can't provide the service your charging people for, you shouldn't charge people for it, right? I suspect that credit note will never arrive. Instead, next year, the bill will go up further accompanied by the leader of the council bleating on the local radio that the government aren't giving them enough money, it's all so unfair. What gives councils the right to send their staff home on full pay (paid by us) when they could re deploy them to other tasks, e.g. keeping the tips open? Coz this is what the world needs right now, everyone claiming back money that they feel they are owed due to the virus. So that's council tax, boat licence as I cant move, car insurance coz I cant really drive anywhere, mobile bill as I am using my wfi at home instead of data.. anything else? Sad world we live in.

Yeah, but...That's the predicament for many - everything has stopped except for the bills, standing orders and direct debits. If you can't fix the income side of the equation, the only way to balance the books is to cut costs.

Just had n the middle of stopping Skylight circus bin and women's hygiene collections, money better spent retaining our own staff. Swmbo is crunching the year end finances to see how long we can survive, any applications for financial help will need £info too. We'd both rather play in the garden or go for a walk.

Who knows, there you are - a structured/organised group of people wondering about your futures? Could you not put the future in your own hands and repurpose to something more practically useful, at least in the short/medium term?
