I'm currently moored at Furness Vale on the Peak Forest. My parents live 10 miles away, they haven't been out for nearly 3 weeks, I do their shopping for them. Now that the canal at Marple has re opened I'd like to move to Poynton or thereabouts, 9 or 10 miles by canal with 3 bridges to deal with. I'd then be 5 miles from my parents.
Is this reasonable, should I do it?

Is this reasonable, should I do it? Yes. Travelling to assist people in the vulnerable /shielding group is fine. Necessary and good even. Whether you travel by vehicle or boat is not specified. Clearly if you wanted to “commute” to your parents by boat for each visit, that would be taking the piss. But a one off trip to position yourself nearer, is reasonable and sensible. The only thing to bear in mind is that other people will not understand your motives and might accuse you of taking the piss. But you probably don’t care about that!

I'm currently moored at Furness Vale on the Peak Forest. Pop into TW will you, and ask them if we should give our engine a bit of welly when starting from cold? And ask them about our diesel pipe that we replaced recently - should it go over the exhaust pipe as it does, from injector to return pipe? Here it is. Magnetman showed a photo where it goes right round the cylinder body.

Agree with Nick. It’s a sensible decision. Saves you having to repeat your current journey more often. Also ageee with Nick that some people won’t like you doing it. I’ve realised lately that there are more than a few around who are to quick to judge. Guess I’d always known but the virus issue has made it clearer. Move your boat.

Do it ... simple ... not worth worrying about other's thoughts.

Move. You have the best of reasons.

Is this reasonable, should I do it? Yes, of course. And ask the Police why they aren't wearing any masks and why they are all squeezed into the same Police car all breathing the same air - any one of them could be a carrier. Not to mention everyone going in and out of supermarkets fondling the bananas and touching jars then putting them back on the shelf because they thought the apricot jam was marmalade. Cross-contamination just about everywhere!

I do care about others questioning my motives though. I'm a bit of a powder keg at the moment and seem to be attracting all kinds of accusations. A walker told me the other day that I shouldn't be kayaking along the canal. The tit just happened to be walking past a moored boat himself. I should have calmly explained that I was taking my cassette to the services to empty it but couldn't help myself getting into a bit of a spat with him. And then at Aldi the other day I parked my bike in a parking bay, a bloke told me I was selfish, I should have parked it out of the way somewhere so a car could use the bay. Actually that's what I usually do, but the queue of people took up the only suitable place. How I didn't lamp him one is a mystery to me, but I can feel it coming.

Or perhaps you are all cheese and no mustard?

By the way, it's best to replace damaged hoses rather than fix them with duct tape. They aren't expensive. Straight bss FAIL I'm afraid.

Philip Green will be an old dodderer one day, the ideal chance to kick his walking stick away and make him fall over in some dog shit.

Not only a mustard free zone, but I suspect you are insipid flavourless american cheese.

It's the one from the injector. The duct tape + string is to hold the water pipe higher - that was our idea and there's nothing wrong with that (it was lower when we bought the boat). The tape is merely to hold the string, there's no hole in the pipe. ps - it's a water pipe, not a fuel pipe, I bet water pipes have nothing to do with the BSS as they're not a matter of 'safety'.

What a waste of best blue parking string.
