Been past there sign in the window more than likely 'closed, coronavirus'. By the way, it's best to replace damaged hoses rather than fix them with duct tape. They aren't expensive. Straight bss FAIL I'm afraid. You're looking at the wrong hose. It's the one from the injector. The duct tape + string is to hold the water pipe higher - that was our idea and there's nothing wrong with that (it was lower when we bought the boat). The tape is merely to hold the string, there's no hole in the pipe. ps - it's a water pipe, not a fuel pipe, I bet water pipes have nothing to do with the BSS as they're not a matter of 'safety'. You might be surprised to find out how many BSS requirements have nothing to do with safety.

I'll just mention (for what it's worth Clinton Cool ) we've settled into twice weekly moves ... one for the services ... one to turn to face the right way for services ... means my engine gets to spin the prop twice a week. A boater shouted at me as I passed that the canals are closed ! He came by me several days later obviously heading to the services ... I rose above the opportunity So don't be surprised if boaters challenge your move. Rog

What a waste of best blue parking string. Has been like that for the past 4 years at least, we are quite happy as it is. I think people would be horrified if they peeked inside our electrical cupboard! One day I will open it and have a long look... but as everything works, why worry too much? I still have to find a day to sit in our engine room and investigate everything. We have been too busy cruisin' and enjoying ourselves. More time in future to slow down and examine our 'estate'.

Yes. Travelling to assist people in the vulnerable /shielding group is fine. Necessary and good even. Whether you travel by vehicle or boat is not specified. Clearly if you wanted to “commute” to your parents by boat for each visit, that would be taking the piss. But a one off trip to position yourself nearer, is reasonable and sensible. The only thing to bear in mind is that other people will not understand your motives and might accuse you of taking the piss. But you probably don’t care about that! Cheers for that. I do care about others questioning my motives though. I'm a bit of a powder keg at the moment and seem to be attracting all kinds of accusations. A walker told me the other day that I shouldn't be kayaking along the canal. The tit just happened to be walking past a moored boat himself. I should have calmly explained that I was taking my cassette to the services to empty it but couldn't help myself getting into a bit of a spat with him. And then at Aldi the other day I parked my bike in a parking bay, a bloke told me I was selfish, I should have parked it out of the way somewhere so a car could use the bay. Actually that's what I usually do, but the queue of people took up the only suitable place. How I didn't lamp him one is a mystery to me, but I can feel it coming. When I “lose the rag” it is usually because something happens that is totally unexpected and catches me off guard. In the case in question, you have the opportunity to run through the probable scenarios and prepare your responses in advance.

Theres a lot of people who are getting very angsty regarding peoples 'exercise' ..the flack on face ache is ridiculous ..Its the reason I'm out at 6am and in by 8am most days and in that time I've been for a walk and done any shopping....have to go few times a week as no car means carry everything and its up hill ..with son here more food etc consumed. I fear it will only be a matter of time before the stress turns to violence as the busybodies push the buttons to far. Try to just ignore or have responses ready and just churn them out....

It's a shame so many feel compelled to worry about what others are doing ... and this current situation seems to play straight into the limited imaginations of the very small minded.
But if we all ensure our individual actions are appropriate , I'm sure sure we can get through this amicably.

Personally I would move, and if anyone questioned my actions I would put on my psycho face and bellow "FUCK OFF" at them at the top of my voice.

I'm currently moored at Furness Vale on the Peak Forest. My parents live 10 miles away, they haven't been out for nearly 3 weeks, I do their shopping for them. Now that the canal at Marple has re opened I'd like to move to Poynton or thereabouts, 9 or 10 miles by canal with 3 bridges to deal with. I'd then be 5 miles from my parents. Is this reasonable, should I do it? YES, just talk to CRT and get approval

It's actually quite interesting. Quick example: 54 (2) (ii) Strictly no enjoying yourself. That should cover it from a legal point of view.

I mean, this reckless and foolhardy young couple having a picnic on Brighton beach might appear to be miles away from anyone else, but what if they have the virus and they give it to the beach, and then the next person to come along catches it from the beach? Hurrah for our brave Boys in Blue I say! Thank God we don't all live in North Korea.

It's a shame so many feel compelled to worry about what others are doing ... If we had worried more about what the Chinese were doing 5 years ago, we wouldn't be in this position.
