Son should have a multimeter, a cheap one would do. Use the continuity test, stick probes in holes, see what's connected to what, draw a plan. Job sorted.

You need to switch both the live and the neutral. If it really only has 4 terminals, it’s not a suitable switch. Maybe it is designed to select between batteries? If you connect all the neutrals together it will probably all end in tears. And smoke.

That is one problem, which would just result in the hookup bollard tripping. Worse would a centre-tapped inverter which, if on when the hookup was plugged in, would have its “neutral” ( which isn’t really a neutral) shorted to earth. That’s when there’d be lots of smoke.

I don't think there is a hookup bollard in this situation..
It's a van.
Not sure what sort of RCD protection the house has got but I think almost all houses these days are pretty well sorted.
There must be a few about with the old bakelite large round pin sockets.

There must be a few about with the old bakelite large round pin sockets. Yes it’s a van (caravan?) but when you go to a campsite don’t they have hookup bollards similar to those in marinas? And if it’s a house, one would hope any outdoor sockets are protected by an RCD. Modern houses have indoor sockets protected by RCD too.

Just come on line ...... agree ....... it looks like a Kraus and Naimer switch but as it only has one module it is a single pole changeover as Nick has said you need a double pole changeover Kraus and Naimer switch such as uk.rs-online.com/web/p/rotary-cam-switches/0758579/
