Also painted the transmission cover on the little Honda, and replaced the combined rear brake/ starter cable, and the throttle and choke cables. And polished it a lot. And I pumped about 10 litres of crap from my boat's engine keep-all, mostly the crap that ended up in there when I degreased the engine a couple of months ago. And I even ran a proper vacuum cleaner around the boat which is a very rare event. EDIT. Plus as you can see, I've gone a bit mad with the Cuprinol. Luckily I'm managing to keep sane in all this madness, in fact I was explaining this to the toaster and the microwave oven just this morning.

Like Mr Stabby today Iβve been busy painting anything outside that doesnβt move - shed, fence along with sloshing a load of water sealant over the garden wall. Last weekend was tidy and organise shed and garage (including the roof space) Tomorrowβs job is painting the swing and garden furniture.

Very nice Vince, but does riding up a wooden ramp to the top of a wooden crate count as necessary travel? Reported on Farcebook...

Yep, also painting here. Covering up the scrapes to the blacking above the waterline. Ended up painting it all on that side once I realised the paint will still stretch to the other side when I'm ready to turn around.
Today I've been trying to play classical piano pieces I learnt 30 years ago and have forgotten. Also interesting trying to get used to varifocals when switching between keys and music score. Chris and I were watching this 9 year old genius pianist last night, I think it must have inspired me.
The piano by the way is an electric Yamaha keyboard which I can run off my small inverter. I could have played bass for an hour but Chris would have found it boring without some musicians joining in!
Played with my radio for a bit then cracked open the Jamesons. Now talking gibberish on some random forum for alcoholic boaters.. .

Tomorrows job is a BARBY!! Phil When we pass there I always sing.. I think it's funny, Chris doesn't... We would have passed a week or so ago but got a bit diverted. We've had our bookings cancelled up North so we may do the K&A again instead once this is all over.

We are in the house(π)& it's never been so clean! As a matter of interest,I hate cleaning as well as ironing. We had a lovely lady(still a friend) who cleaned/ironed for us for years. But obviously once we retired,we couldn't justify this,so we(well mostly me) do it.I never thought I'd be looking forward to scrubbing the shower track with a toothbrush for excitement...π

I rubbed down and painted the alloy wheels on my car. Well, two of them anyway, I'm stringing it out largely to give myself something to do. I'll do the other two next week. Plus of course posting loads of shit on here. Did you laquer the wheels after painting?

What kind of paint is it on those Rover wheels? I have seen it before - it feels like plastic - but... isn't? Hmmm... have just looked at our car wheels... they are more silvery and have some kind of 'surface' on them... but, luckily don't need painting. I have painted wheels before but have used masking tape to go in the 'crack' - you need about 200 bits of tape for each wheel! But it comes off in a satisfying ribbon.

Shopping once a week, with the weird queueing arrangements is definitely strange. Pubs and cafes being closed, and not being run over whenever you go near a road is strange. I've had Β£70 in my wallet for about two weeks that no one seems to want ... 'plastic only ' is the cry. But day to day boat life hasn't really changed at all ... rather it seems the rest of the world has changed to boat living We try to avoid towpath walking as they're so busy, but are having fantastic walks on empty country footpaths (got to within ten feet of a weasel yesterday) and taking a flask rather than calling at cafes/pubs. Obviously everyone's worried about their family and friends, but modern technology is great for keeping in touch. My friend and his wife who are trapped in Spain are literally in 'house arrest' ... no going out ... now that must be tough. Rog

Bit of a community set up not far from me. Tarps set up in the woods, big fire going most of the time, music blaring out from the boats, big cooking pots swinging in the trees, lingering smell of pungent smoke, not just from the fires.
It's like a cross between a full moon party and a night out in Amsterdam. No doubt either CRT or plod will be along at some stage, we can't have people enjoying themselves during this emergency.
