Gawd ... I could kill for a rusk Rog 1956, and a recently uncovered portion of a letter from my father to his, while aboard a liner bound for Freemantle – My sister and I reprised our roles in those costumes a year or so later for some event long forgotten –

A happy memory from me, something more esoteric, from my carnival days, my longest stiltwalk ever 8.5 hrs at Notting Hill Carnival. The music took the pain away, just kept dancing! I also paraded down the Mall at the Queens Jubilee to the same tune, dressed as a Galleon.
As for the grumbling old gimmers scattered along this thread "never been the same since my day", what rubbish. There's stuff that stirs your soul or not, from whatever age.
Much can be improved with a Banging Donk. Donk Donk Donk!

Glad you like them Jim ... see why you need the hearing aids ... and I don't believe anyone's 'grumbled' ... just pleasant to think back to happy days ... the constant negativity is available on other threads ... some of us are happier away from it. Rog

Used to watch the first series with William Hartnell ... my sisters were terrified by the Daleks. Such a comic 'monster' looking back but gripping and new at the time Rog

Jim's constant scatter gun attacks on an imagined section of society are reminiscent of Foxy's.

Rog " Only to your age group. To me the nineties were a dirge of rubbish music and I feel sorry for those who had to put up with it. Maybe the first rebellion free music scene with piles of soulless machine produced crap and everyone using the same sampled beat. Slightly better than the 80's but not much. In other words it's an age thang." My deafness/tinnitus was caused playing percussion, Rototoms, in a pub maybe 15 years ago. Though I did leave a few concerts in my youth with my ears ringing. That won't have helped.

My favoured music is Baroque ... @gazza chose the nineties ... and as beauty is in the eye of the beholder (get it out with Optrex - another memory) I'm happy for everyone to enjoy to their own taste.

They changed the theme music ... but this is the one I remember.

As far as pop music, whatever their age, most people I know prefer the stuff they grew up with and earlier, but regard what came after their mid twenties as pale imitation. It's little to do with the music and more about associations.

My focus was on varied memories ... obviously these things have good associations .
Other's may have memories more pop music based ... fine by me ... no desire to denigrate someone's choice.

I used to hide behind the settee When I went to see Jaws at the cinema I hid on the floor with a coat over my head Lost serious 'mum cred' when I hid under my coat during Mousetrap(the cartoon..sigh) and had to walk out 4 times it freaked me out so much....

You'll have me blushing! This absolutely sums up that period for me - you could choose any song you like from that era as an anthem, a moment in time etc, but somehow this remains as powerful now (possibly more so in light of recent events) as it did all those years ago. Only to your age group. To me the nineties were a dirge of rubbish music and I feel sorry for those who had to put up with it. Maybe the first rebellion free music scene with piles of soulless machine produced crap and everyone using the same sampled beat. Slightly better than the 80's but not much. In other words it's an age thang. You missed the bit about stick your favourite Absolute decade on then? I can listen to any decade up to the very early 2000's after that pop factor and x Idol started the real race to the bottom - something the music industry has never recovered from. My music collection spans 4 decades and covers anything from Blues through to Thrash metal. Unsurprisingly though - at the age of a fag paper off 41 the 90's are my decade - my formative years when as I said, everything was bright and new. I'm not ashamed of that - nor will I apologise for it. Instead have one on me 👍 What's you pleasure rather than your anathema?

Good choice Rog!
There were a string of indie girl bands that had cracking lead singers capable of holding a young lads attention - top of the list for me was Louise Werner of Sleeper 😚
Here's another strong women from the 90's doing her thing 👍 another favourite of mine.
