Think I have mentioned before - I once took my mutt (lurcher/labrador) on a 2000 mile walk - yes we both got ill at times - if I had been able to speak to her I'm sure she would of said 'can we do that again!'.
I had several people tell me I was cruel to put a dog through a gruelling experience just for my own gratification. Some people...

I see the boys have answered your question, I haven't had a single wheeler so can't comment although everyone raves about them.
I started with a kiddie trailer so got used to it quickly and managed not to hit anything.
They have a hitch that is permanently attached to drop out by the axle and a clip holds trailer in, it takes seconds to attach or remove.
I personally do not like the ones that attached to seat post because I have a pannier rack and anyone I know who had one has not liked them either.
If you are thinking of a dog then a kiddie trailer would be ideal. My cat loves mine.

Fair enough Kris- you've used both types of trailer, and used them for the same purpose I will be, and your opinion is the single wheeled models are better. I can't ask for better evidence than direct experience. I did notice the single wheeled models seemed to be more expensive, sadly. The other thing for me is whether I end up getting a dog, so I need to give that some thought, unless there are single wheel dog trailers... I might do a bit more research on that, and bit more thinking about whether I'm going to look for a dog. Its such a huge step, sharing your life with an animal. The selfish part of me says a dog will restrict my options in travel and lifestyle (e.g. reduced access to restaurants, pubs, tourist attractions, etc. But they are such wonderful creatures, and they do enrich your life somehow. I don’t know about dogs, but if I had one I think I’d make it run along side as I don’t cycle fast. I got an attachment that fitted on the seat tube, an arm stuck out sideways, I used the full harness seat belt thing on the dog, she would run along side. Used trailer when she was tired or on busy roads. I had a dog years back who would run to heel on the inside. She would do 10 miles no problem. Both of those dogs were mid sized, with a bit of running dog in the mix.
