Forgot to mention it is full of old people visiting and saying how lovely and beautiful it is even when it's cold wet miserable and someone has to tell them which way the beach is and where the hills would be if only the low cloud wasn't hiding them!
I spent two winters in N. Wales, one mainly at Harlech...
It's funny my 2 favourite areas in the UK are Cornwall and Snowdonia. Have you not been to the Lake District or Yorkshire Dales?

Barmouth - check it out: We have religious nutters for starters: "Mariane Farningham 1834-1909 lived out her later years in Barmouth. She was a religious writer of poetry, biographies, prose and hymns. Her words on healthcare workers are quite apt today. "Let not the useful die, O Lord! The reaper's scythe is here,…" www.facebook.com/barmouthwales/ LGBT fanatics: "Wouldn't it be nice if all the buisness in town, put some sort of rainbow or rainbow colours in their windows" en-gb.facebook.com/groups/barmouthnet/ And the illiterate: "Is there any lpg gas engineers that can safety check my boiler please in my static sunny sands also as park to test the electric" en-gb.facebook.com/pg/barmouthwales/community/

The local insult I'm aware of is 'emmets' (spelling?). It means ants, possibly from the Cornish language. There's also hostility in Wales but given that my family are from there and I speak a few words of it (and would learn to speak it better if I chose to live there), and that my surname and one of my Christian names are as Welsh as it's possible to be, I think it would be plain sailing there, at least in that respect. If you choose to live in Mumbles you will be hard pressed to find anywhere to practice your Welsh! The rest of the Gower peninsula will give you a slight chance, further west there is a lot more Welsh spoken. I don’t believe Patty has any problems being from elsewhere and living in Mumbles.

As far as I know Penzance is more a working town rather than a seaside town that majors on tourism. I'd prefer to live in the former rather than some snobby place where rich knobs from London only visit their second homes when the weather is nice. The problem is that difficulties with locals is probably more likely in the former rather than the latter. Anyone lived in Swansea? Me and Patty

Cheers for the links what I'm really looking for is a one bed, small cottage, stone, old, fireplace, original flooring, beams, that kind of thing. I can then fill it with antiques and quirky stuff and be happy as Larry. I couldn't live in a modern house on a housing estate, just couldn't do it.

No idea what the place is like but my younger sister was born in Haverfordwest. 1 bed stone terrace cottage £125k www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/54679176More accurately converted farm buildings so perhaps a hay store or stable unit. I'd be quite tempted but I am unable to live in a land based dwelling for a variety of complicated reasons.

That would be perfect, even seems to have a 'shed' in the garden to store kayaks/ surfboards/ fishing rods. Perfect, if it wasn't so far from the open sea.

Yes it is well inland.
When I visited Wales a few years ago I noticed there were some old chapels for sale cheap. I think there is something odd going on with the residential status but they looked like nice little buildings to convert.
A spot of light satanic ritual behaviour should be okay to get rid of the god problems.

I'd love to have an ecclesiastical angle on something I'd live in but I'd have to 'cleanse' it in some way. It would be good to get a God (does anyone know what he looks like?) or Jesus figure, probably large and imposing, taking a prominent place in my living room adorned with the words 'the greatest conspiracy theory', or similar.

god is actually a non-specific-gender old person with a grey beard which may or may not have been hormonally or genetically enhanced.
There are lots of theories but assuming it is a genuine male is a mistaken anthropological viewpoint showing the narrow mindedness of the whole concept.

Here's a thing: You have a very old pension you've almost forgotten about, think it's worth about £15K. Make a phone call, and despite the stock market crash you find out it's worth £31,500. Not just that, because it's a certain type of pension you can withdraw the lot without having to employ one of those cash guzzling 'financial advisor' types. Just pay tax on 75% of it, the rest is yours. Happy days! 2021 Wales, here I come!
