Yesterday - Ellis went up into Dry dock (which meant a couple of hours chugging in the spring sunshine to get her pointing the right way for the boat lift)...
The boat yard owner has very kindly loaned me a works van so can drive over to the dentist this morning who have warned any repair cannot involve drilling so will be basic and temporary at best...he even said, "it's full of fuel and dont bother filling bit back up again when you come back"... boaty people are (in the most part) a really good bunch... I shall have to ensure I begin balancing karma again as soon as opportunity presents itself.
I'm still happier with THEM bunging something in the hole than me trying - I don't have a flip top head and are convinced I'd end up applying constant pressure against the offending hurty bits if I tried myself.
I'll report back at the end of today - assuming the rozzers dont arrest me for being so far from home.

Not sure why they cannot drill teeth if they have protective gear on..after all they r still pocketing the ££ from your monthly donations.. good luck...

Here I am back - "done" - they met me at the door ... made me sanitize with alcohol , then go and wash my hands (doors open and tap running already)...
apologized about not being able to drill, use any air drying (rammed cotton wool into the hole to dry it best he could) or suction... I WAS allowed a lovely big (well 2 actually) injections . Anyway - the "gone tooth" has been remade using something and he's attached it to the 3/4 of the other remaining of the tooth next to it for the time being. They'll be in touch as soon as they are able to do proper job - meanwhile, take care and let them know how I get on.
Apparently the "hubs" that are supposedly being set up are way behind what we are being told on the news today... AND he's a real worry the emergency treatment offered is more likely to be removal of teeth that would otherwise be salvageable
Anyway - I'm going to head out and buy a nice bottle of wine for the Ian who loaned me the car - I've already filled it up with petrol ... in fact, I've had a lovely drive through the Dales today on roads I'd not been on for years (excluding the day after mam died when I made the same journey in shock).
Ellis is up in the air, jet-washed to within an inch of her life and drying in prep for her new blacking.

Injections and they DIDN'T drill ? My dentist doesn't bother with injections when he DOES drill if there is no sensitivity. Glad you're sorted for a while ... surprised you got out the bath to go Rog

My cat was off colour yesterday [OK now], so phoned vet for advice , they don't do home visits, expect me to bring animal in, I don't know how, they don't know how., and no they don't have thermometers to spare.
I am no longer amazed by veterinary incompetence by those trained in the last twenty years [too many examples to mention], particularly bizarre as the competition for entry means their IQ is top tier. If they are not even equipped to protect against disease transmission, what are they doing working in a science based industry. One of my first Ministry jobs was supervising Foot and Mouth procedures, and advising on good practice, I had waterproof kit from top to toe, a gallon of disinfectant, a bucket and brush, and I was only the gatekeeper!

I'm not sure why some things have stopped, the 'lockdown' has thrown everything into a panic mode In Scotland my elderly friend has been advised he's high risk...high BP, overweight, heart condition, and other ailments....he was told the Dr surgery no longer able to do his INR ..prick on the finger there...instead he's expected to catch a bus/drive to the hospital and go for a blood test there.. I cannot see why...They are exposing the very people to risk that they advise lock down...hes very frightened I cannot see why some places cannot provide a service if they have protective gear, a queue system with social distancing....it could be done with strict apt's and people staying in their car..
I'm all for obeying the rules but think its perhaps tipped to far and climbing back to some semblance of sanity ..can u imagine trying to get dentist apts for treatment..vets for inoculations of pets....when this is over

My cat was off colour yesterday What, like it was ginger the day before and then suddenly turned black? I’d check it hasn’t been in the bathroom cupboard and found some hair colouring to roll around in.

In fact he wouldn't have been involved in the process because a nurse would have taken the 6 phials of blood required. Phil

That could only be an improvement for the poor beast. @socks at Yorkshire vets, "My cat's ill" "is it a tom" " No I've brung it wi me".

Yet more "incompetence" in the people you interact with, do you ever wonder why?

I've just been given a broken eco fan. A real one. Original.
I doubt there is anyone who can get it mended.
