Listening to unsustainable musicΒ Β Maybe I should give up electric bass and just become a folk floor singer then. Be careful what you wish for.

Yeah - but what is it made of? And where did the materials come from? And where does the electricity come from?..... and how does the driver get to work? The rubber for the tyres came from...? Chinese neodymium for the electric motors? How did that arrive...? How long will the batteries and motors work before they are knackered? Grease for the moving parts / bearings? Comes from...? It's just a toy at the end of a very long line of actions all aided by fossil fuels, even including the lights in the offices of those who designed it. The only real source of local 'free green energy' is from the Sun and from the heat inside this planet itself. Both are dwindling, of course, but in millions/billions of years, so not really a worry just yet. Solar panels and mirrors to direct sunlight and thermal wells are what we'll end up with, fossils fuels are finite and will run out. All the trees in the world won't take long to burn if you really have a go at it. Most countries in the world are having a go at making green energy, as time goes on it will be the norm, it takes time to get rid of big oils grip on the economy, this virus by accident has done that as their assets and products become worse than valueless they cost them to store it. Refineries are closing, some of the older one will never reopen, the world will have changed and it wont be big oils way

Well, our chainsaw doesn't work on green energy but 98-octane petrol mixed with 2-stroke oil. The wind will carry the exhaust off to Russia

I fail to see how replacing 1,000,000,000 cars can be good for the environment.

agree, speed is not essential as the pollution caused by the mining and refining of the materials and the actual manufacturing process would outweigh the advantages for ages ...... do it by simply by not manufacturing the IC models and letting the existing ones continue until they die

Most of us are old farts and need to think more about our kids and Grandchildren. I miss them, and think I cocked up quite a bit.

Some cars are ripe for conversion to electric and for me thats the way forward, new ICE cars just have to be made socially unacceptable to resolve the problem, that and large taxes on them will make people think twice. Of course this lockdown has shown that a large proportion of the population can work from home, so maybe that needs to continue along with tripling the price of air travel to make people think about it. We do after all live in the best country on earth so why would you want to holiday elsewhere? All joking aside traveling abroad after the virus could be very dodgy
